Operating Instructions

Once your Blink camera is set up, you can operate it using the Blink Home Monitor app:

  • Live View: To view live video from your camera, open the Blink app and tap the camera icon next to the camera's name. This will initiate a live stream.
  • Motion Detection: The camera automatically detects motion using its PIR sensor. When motion is detected, it will record a short clip and send a push notification to your smartphone. You can adjust the sensitivity of the motion sensor in the camera settings within the app.
  • Accessing Clips: Recorded motion clips are stored in the app's "Clips" section. You can view, download, or delete these clips from there.
  • Arm/Disarm System: Use the "Arm" or "Disarm" button in the app to enable or disable motion detection for your entire system or individual cameras. When armed, motion detection is active.
  • Night Vision: The camera utilizes a visible white LED for night vision. This LED will illuminate when light conditions are low, allowing the camera to capture images in the dark.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Blink BCM01100U camera:

  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the camera lens and body with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as they may damage the lens or finish.
  • Battery Replacement: The camera is powered by 2 AA batteries. When the battery indicator in the app shows low battery, replace both batteries with new, high-quality AA lithium batteries for best performance and extended life. Ensure correct polarity.
  • Software Updates: Keep your Blink Home Monitor app updated to the latest version. The camera's firmware may also receive updates automatically through the app. Ensure your camera is connected to Wi-Fi for these updates.
  • Environmental Considerations: While the camera is designed for indoor use, avoid placing it in direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, or areas with high humidity to prevent damage.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Blink BCM01100U camera, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Camera Not Connecting to Wi-Fi:
    • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4 GHz. Blink cameras do not support 5 GHz networks.
    • Check your Wi-Fi password for accuracy.
    • Move the camera closer to your Wi-Fi router to improve signal strength.
    • Restart your Wi-Fi router.
  • No Motion Detection:
    • Ensure the system is "Armed" in the Blink app.
    • Adjust the motion detection sensitivity in the camera settings.
    • Check the camera's placement; ensure there are no obstructions blocking the sensor's view.
    • Verify battery levels. Low batteries can affect performance.
  • Poor Video Quality:
    • Clean the camera lens with a soft, dry cloth.
    • Ensure adequate lighting in the area, especially for night vision.
    • Check your internet connection speed. A slow connection can impact live view quality.
  • Short Battery Life:
    • Ensure you are using high-quality AA lithium batteries.
    • Reduce the number of motion-triggered recordings by adjusting sensitivity or clip length.
    • Avoid placing the camera in high-traffic areas if frequent recordings are not desired.
