Initial Setup

Before first use, ensure the battery is fully charged using the provided battery charger. Insert the charged battery and a compatible SDXC memory card (UHS-1 type, class 3 recommended) into the camera's battery/card slot.

Operating Your Camera

Shooting Modes

  • Auto Mode: For beginners, the camera can be set to Auto mode via the top plate switch. This allows the camera to select optimal settings automatically.

Autofocus System

  • AF-S Mode: For best autofocus performance with stationary subjects, use AF-S mode with face detection enabled.
  • Touch Autofocus: The autofocus point can be positioned directly on the tilting touchscreen LCD monitor when shooting with the rear screen.
  • Customizable 4-way Controller: The 4-way controller can be customized to provide direct control over autofocus point positioning when shooting using the electronic viewfinder.

Video Recording

The X-T20 is capable of shooting 4K video at up to 30 frames per second (30p). The tilting screen is useful for composing video footage and setting focus.
