3. Setup and Installation

4. Operating (Break-in Procedure)

Proper break-in (bedding-in) of your new Power Stop brake pads and rotors is crucial for optimal performance and longevity. Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Find a safe area with minimal traffic.
  2. Accelerate the vehicle to 35 mph (56 km/h).
  3. Apply moderate braking pressure to reduce speed to 5 mph (8 km/h). Do not come to a complete stop.
  4. Release the brakes and accelerate back to 35 mph (56 km/h).
  5. Repeat this procedure 5-6 times.
  6. After the last stop, drive for several minutes without applying the brakes to allow the system to cool down.

During the break-in process, you may notice some smoke or a distinct odor. This is normal and indicates the pads are bedding-in correctly. Avoid hard braking or emergency stops immediately after installation until the break-in procedure is complete.
