Setup

Unpacking and Placement

  • Carefully remove the mixer from its packaging. Retain all packaging materials for future transport or storage.
  • Place the mixer on a stable, flat surface, ensuring adequate ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating.
  • Avoid placing the mixer near heat sources, direct sunlight, or in environments with excessive dust or moisture.

Power Connection

  1. Ensure the mixer's power switch is in the OFF position.
  2. Connect the provided AC power cable to the mixer's power inlet on the rear panel.
  3. Plug the other end of the power cable into a suitable AC power outlet (100-240V, 50/60Hz).

Connecting Audio Devices

  • Microphones: Connect microphones to the XLR inputs on the mono channels. Activate +48V phantom power for condenser microphones using the dedicated switch.
  • Line-Level Devices: Connect instruments, media players, or other line-level sources to the 6.35mm TRS line inputs on mono channels or the stereo inputs.
  • Main Outputs: Connect your main PA system or recording device to the MAIN OUT (XLR or 6.35mm TRS) on the rear panel.
  • Auxiliary Sends: Use the AUX SEND outputs to connect to external effects processors or stage monitors.
  • Headphones: Connect headphones to the PHONES jack for monitoring.

Operating Instructions

Basic Operation

  1. Power On: After all connections are made, switch the mixer's power ON.
  2. Gain Adjustment: For each input channel, adjust the GAIN knob to achieve an optimal input level. The PEAK LED should flash only occasionally during the loudest parts of the signal.
  3. Equalization (EQ): Use the HI, MID, and LOW knobs to shape the tone of each channel. The MID knob often includes a SWEEP function to select the frequency band to adjust.
  4. Auxiliary Sends: Use the AUX knobs on each channel to send a portion of that channel's signal to an auxiliary output for effects or monitoring.
  5. Pan Control: Adjust the PAN knob to position the channel's signal within the stereo field.
  6. Channel Faders: Use the channel faders to control the individual volume of each input in the main mix.
  7. Main Mix: Adjust the MAIN MIX faders to control the overall output volume of the mixer. Monitor the 12-segment bar graph displays to ensure levels are not clipping.

Using the DSP Effects

The GIG-244CFX features an integrated 24-bit DSP effects processor with 100 presets.

  • Selecting Effects: Use the PROGRAM knob to scroll through the 100 available effects presets. The display will show the selected program number.
  • Applying Effects: Use the EFX SEND knob on each channel to send signal to the internal effects processor. Adjust the EFX RETURN fader in the master section to control the overall level of the effects in the main mix.
  • Parameter Adjustment: Some effects may have adjustable parameters. Refer to the specific DSP section on the mixer for details on how to modify these.

Maintenance

Cleaning

  • Always disconnect the mixer from the power supply before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior surfaces.
  • For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner can be used, followed by a dry cloth.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the finish and controls.
  • Keep liquids away from all openings and controls.

Storage

  • When not in use for extended periods, store the mixer in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Cover the mixer with a dust cover to protect it from dust and debris.
