Product Overview
The OEMTOOLS 27213 Master Wheel Hub and Bearing Remover and Installer Kit is designed for the removal and installation of wheel hubs and pressed bearings. This universal kit is suitable for front, rear, and all-wheel drive vehicles, including many domestic, Asian, and European models. It eliminates the need for a shop press or removal of the strut assembly and knuckle, streamlining the process and often negating the need for a post-service alignment.
The kit features a heavy-duty thrust bearing to reduce effort and extend the tool's lifespan, along with a self-centering design for durability and ease of use. It is built from durable steel to withstand the torque required for hub and bearing service without damaging vehicle components.

Bearing Removal from Spindle/Bearing Housing
Note: Some bearings have a snap ring retainer and this will have to be removed prior to removing the bearing.
- Select the Adapter Sleeve that best fits your housing and will allow the bearing to pass through.
- Select the smallest Step Washer that will not pass through the bearing.
- Assemble components as shown in Figure B (refer to your physical instruction manual), tightening the Tapered Nut and Washer against the bearing.
- Hold the Tapered Nut while turning the Pressure Screw. Continue turning to remove the bearing.
Note: On some vehicles, the inner bearing race will come out with the hub. This will need to be removed from the hub prior to reassembly.
Installing New Inner Wheel Bearing
- Select the largest Step Washer that best fits your bearing and does not exceed the O.D. of the bearing.
- Select the Adapter Sleeve that best fits your spindle bearing housing.
- Assemble components as shown in Figure C (refer to your physical instruction manual), tightening the Tapered Nut and Washer against the bearing.
- Hold the Tapered Nut while turning the Pressure Screw. Continue turning to install the bearing.
Installing New Outer Wheel Bearing
- Select the largest Step Washer that best fits your bearing and does not exceed the O.D. of the bearing.
- Select the Adapter Sleeve that best fits your spindle bearing housing.
- Assemble components as shown in Figure D (refer to your physical instruction manual), tightening the Tapered Nut and Washer against the bearing.
- Hold the Tapered Nut while turning the Pressure Screw. Continue turning to install the bearing.
Installing the Hub into the Bearing Spindle Housing
- Select the smallest Step Washer that best fits and will apply force to the inner bearing race.
- Assemble components as shown in Figure E (refer to your physical instruction manual), tightening the Tapered Nut and Washer against the bearing's inner race.
- Hold the Tapered Nut while turning the Pressure Screw. Continue turning to install the hub.
Alternative Method for Bearing Removal/Installation
An alternative method is to use the Horseshoe Bracket Assembly to push against the spindle bearing housing, as shown in Figure H (refer to your physical instruction manual).

Maintenance
- After each use, clean all components of the kit thoroughly to remove any grease, dirt, or debris.
- Inspect the pressure screw and all adapters for any signs of wear, damage, or deformation. Replace damaged parts immediately.
- Lightly lubricate the pressure screw and nut with high-pressure grease before storage to prevent corrosion and ensure smooth operation for future use.
- Store the kit in its protective case in a dry, clean environment to prevent damage and prolong its lifespan.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter difficulties during operation, consider the following:
- Tool not fitting: Ensure you have selected the correct adapter sleeves and step washers for your specific vehicle and bearing size. Measure the wheel bearings and/or hub to confirm compatibility before use.
- Excessive force required: Verify that the pressure screw and nut are adequately lubricated. Ensure components are aligned correctly to prevent binding. Do not use power tools, as this can damage the tool.
- Bearing or hub not moving: Double-check that all retaining clips or bolts have been removed. Ensure the tool is properly seated and applying even pressure.
- Damage to components: Always ensure the correct adapters are used to apply force only to the appropriate surfaces of the bearing or hub, avoiding damage to the knuckle or other vehicle parts.
