4.1 Connecting to a Television

Follow these steps to connect your JVC HR-XVC14 to your television.

  1. Ensure both the player and your television are powered off.
  2. For best picture quality, connect the component video outputs (Y, Pb, Pr) from the player to the corresponding component video inputs on your TV using component video cables.
  3. Connect the audio outputs (L/R) from the player to the audio inputs on your TV or audio receiver using RCA audio cables.
  4. Alternatively, for standard definition, connect the composite video output (yellow) and audio outputs (red/white) from the player to the corresponding inputs on your TV.
  5. Plug the power cord into the player and then into a wall outlet.
  6. Power on your TV and select the correct input source (e.g., "Component 1", "Video 1").

5.1 DVD Playback

  7. To eject the disc, press OPEN/CLOSE.

5.2 VCR Playback and Recording

  1. Press the POWER button to turn on the unit.
  2. Press the VCR button on the remote control to select VCR mode.
  3. Insert a VHS tape into the VCR slot. The unit will automatically load the tape.
  4. For playback, press the PLAY button.
  5. For recording, ensure the VCR is in record mode (check tape's write-protect tab). Press RECORD to begin recording. Press STOP to end recording.
  6. Use PLAY, PAUSE, STOP, FF (Fast Forward), and REW (Rewind) buttons for control.
  7. To eject the tape, press EJECT.

5.3 CD/MP3 Playback

  1. Follow steps 1-5 for DVD Playback, inserting an audio CD or a disc containing MP3 files.
  2. The unit will detect the disc type and begin playback.
  3. For MP3 discs, use the navigation buttons to select folders and tracks.
  4. Use PLAY, PAUSE, STOP, SKIP (Next/Previous Track) buttons for control.
