3. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation of the Tesa Assa Abloy 4210303NI lock on metallic doors. Ensure you have the necessary tools, including a drill, screwdriver, and measuring tape.

3.1. Prepare the Door Profile

  1. Measure and mark the position for the lock body on the metallic door profile according to the lock's dimensions (24.5 x 5.3 x 4 cm).
  2. Drill the necessary holes for the lock body, spindle, and cylinder. Ensure precise alignment to prevent operational issues.

3.2. Install the Lock Body

  1. Insert the lock body into the prepared cavity in the door profile.
  2. Secure the lock body with the provided fixing screws through the faceplate.

3.3. Adjust Latch Bolt Reversibility (if needed)

The latch bolt is reversible. If your door requires a different orientation:

  1. Locate the small screw or pin on the side of the latch bolt mechanism.
  2. Depress or unscrew it, then pull out the latch bolt.
  3. Rotate the latch bolt 180 degrees and reinsert it, ensuring it clicks into place.

3.4. Install the Cylinder and Escutcheons

  1. Insert a compatible short cam cylinder (not included) into the lock body.
  2. Secure the cylinder with the cylinder fixing screw through the faceplate.
  3. Position the E210 security escutcheons on both sides of the door, aligning them with the cylinder and fixing holes.
  4. Secure the escutcheons with the provided fixing elements.

3.5. Install the Strike Plate

  1. Align the strike plate on the door frame with the latch bolt and deadbolt.
  2. Mark and prepare the recess for the strike plate and the bolt openings.
  3. Secure the strike plate to the door frame using the provided screws.

3.6. Test Operation

After installation, test the lock's functionality:

  • Ensure the latch bolt retracts smoothly when the handle is operated.
  • Verify that the deadbolt extends and retracts fully and smoothly with the key.
  • Check that the door closes and locks securely without excessive force.

4. Operating Instructions

The Tesa Assa Abloy 4210303NI lock operates with a lever handle for the latch and a key for the deadbolt.

4.1. Opening the Door

  • If the door is only latched, depress the lever handle to retract the latch bolt and open the door.
  • If the door is deadbolted, insert the key into the cylinder and turn it to retract the deadbolt. Then, depress the lever handle to open the door.

4.2. Closing and Locking the Door

  • Close the door firmly until the latch bolt engages with the strike plate.
  • To secure the door, insert the key into the cylinder and turn it to extend the deadbolt fully into the strike plate. Remove the key.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and smooth operation of your lock.

  • Cleaning: Clean the visible parts of the lock (faceplate, escutcheons) with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the stainless steel finish.
  • Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of graphite-based lubricant or a silicone-free lock lubricant into the cylinder keyway and the internal lock mechanism (if accessible). Do not use oil-based lubricants as they can attract dirt.
  • Inspection: Regularly check all screws and fixing elements for tightness. Ensure the latch bolt and deadbolt move freely without obstruction.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your lock, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Problem: Key is difficult to turn or gets stuck.
Solution: Apply graphite-based lubricant to the cylinder. Check if the key is bent or damaged. Ensure the cylinder is properly secured.
  • Problem: Latch bolt does not retract smoothly.
Solution: Check for obstructions in the strike plate. Ensure the lock body is securely fastened and not misaligned. Lubricate the latch mechanism.
  • Problem: Deadbolt does not extend fully.
Solution: Verify that the strike plate opening is correctly aligned with the deadbolt. Check for any debris or damage in the strike plate. Ensure the door is properly closed and not warped.
  • Problem: Lock feels loose.
Solution: Tighten all visible fixing screws on the faceplate and escutcheons.

If problems persist after attempting these solutions, contact customer support.
