Fujifilm GF32-64mmF4 R LM WR Lens User Manual

1. Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and effective use of your Fujifilm GF32-64mmF4 R LM WR Lens. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the lens and retain it for future reference.

The Fujifilm GF32-64mmF4 R LM WR is a standard zoom lens designed for Fujifilm GFX medium format cameras. It covers a versatile focal range equivalent to 25-51mm in 35mm format. The optical design incorporates 11 groups and 14 elements, including aspheric, ED, and Super ED lens elements, to deliver high image quality from the center to the edges of the frame. Its inner focusing method, driven by a linear motor, ensures fast and quiet autofocus performance. The lens also features a weather-resistant construction, making it suitable for use in various environmental conditions.

2. Setup

2.1 Attaching the Lens

  1. Ensure the camera is powered off.
  2. Remove the rear lens cap and the camera body cap.
  3. Align the white mounting mark on the lens barrel with the white mounting mark on the camera body.
  4. Insert the lens into the camera's lens mount and rotate it clockwise until it clicks into place. Do not force the lens.

2.2 Detaching the Lens

  1. Ensure the camera is powered off.
  2. While pressing the lens release button on the camera body, rotate the lens counter-clockwise until it stops.
  3. Carefully remove the lens from the camera body.
  4. Attach the rear lens cap to the lens and the body cap to the camera to protect the sensor and lens elements.

3. Operating the Lens

3.1 Zooming

To adjust the focal length, rotate the zoom ring located on the lens barrel. The focal length markings (32, 44, 50, 64mm) indicate the current setting. Rotate towards 32mm for a wider angle and towards 64mm for a telephoto perspective.

3.2 Focusing

The lens supports both autofocus (AF) and manual focus (MF). The inner focusing system utilizes a linear motor for rapid and quiet AF operation. To switch between AF and MF, use the focus mode selector on your camera body.

  • Autofocus (AF): When the camera is set to AF, the lens will automatically focus on the subject.
  • Manual Focus (MF): When the camera is set to MF, rotate the focus ring on the lens barrel to manually adjust the focus.

3.3 Aperture Control

The lens features an aperture ring for direct control over the aperture setting. Rotate the aperture ring to select your desired f-stop (F4, F5.6, F8, F11, F16, F22, F32). The 'C' position allows for aperture control via the camera body's command dial.

3.4 Weather Resistance

The 'WR' designation indicates that this lens is weather-resistant. It is designed to withstand dust and moisture, making it suitable for use in challenging outdoor conditions. While weather-resistant, it is not waterproof; avoid submerging the lens in water.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning the Lens

  • Lens Elements: Use a lens blower to remove dust. For smudges or fingerprints, use a soft, clean lens cloth specifically designed for optical surfaces, along with a small amount of lens cleaning fluid if necessary. Apply fluid to the cloth, not directly to the lens.
  • Lens Body: Wipe the lens body with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth.
  • Avoid using organic solvents or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the lens coatings or finish.

4.2 Storage

  • Always attach the front and rear lens caps when the lens is not in use to protect the optical elements.
  • Store the lens in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • If storing for extended periods, consider using a dehumidifying cabinet or silica gel packets to prevent mold and mildew growth.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your lens, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Lens not recognized by camera: Ensure the lens is securely attached to the camera body. Power off the camera, detach and reattach the lens, then power on the camera again. Clean the electrical contacts on both the lens and camera body with a clean, dry cloth.
  • Autofocus not working: Check that the camera's focus mode is set to AF. Ensure there is sufficient light and contrast for the autofocus system to operate effectively.
  • Image quality issues (e.g., blurry images): Verify that the lens elements are clean and free from smudges or dust. Ensure the camera's shutter speed is appropriate for the lighting conditions to prevent motion blur. Check that the lens is properly focused.
  • Error messages: Refer to your camera's instruction manual for specific error codes and their corresponding solutions.

If problems persist, contact Fujifilm customer support or an authorized service center.
