Important Safety Information

Always read and understand the entire operator's manual before operating the generator. Failure to follow instructions can result in serious injury or death.

  • Carbon Monoxide Hazard: Generators produce carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless, poisonous gas. Use generators outdoors only, far away from windows, doors, and vents. Never use inside a home, garage, basement, crawlspace, or other enclosed area. The unit features CO Shield, an automatic shut-off system that will shut down the engine before dangerous levels of carbon monoxide accumulate.
  • Fire Hazard: Gasoline and propane are highly flammable. Store fuel in approved containers in a well-ventilated area away from ignition sources. Do not refuel a hot engine.
  • Electrical Shock Hazard: Never operate the generator in wet conditions. Ensure all electrical connections are dry and properly grounded.
  • Hot Surfaces: The generator's engine and muffler become very hot during operation and remain hot for some time after shutdown. Avoid touching hot surfaces to prevent burns.
  • Moving Parts: Keep hands, feet, hair, and clothing away from moving parts to prevent injury.
  • Noise Hazard: Prolonged exposure to noise levels above 68 dBA can cause hearing damage. Use hearing protection when operating the generator.

Adding Engine Oil

The generator is shipped without engine oil. Before first use, you must add the provided 10W-30 engine oil. The unit has a 0.6-quart oil capacity. Use the included oil funnel to prevent spills. Ensure the generator is on a level surface when checking or adding oil.

Fueling the Generator

This generator operates on either gasoline or propane (LPG).

  • For Gasoline: Ensure the generator is off and cool. Open the fuel cap and carefully pour fresh, unleaded gasoline into the 3.4-gallon fuel tank. Do not overfill.
  • For Propane (LPG): Connect the provided 3.3-foot propane hose with regulator to a 20-pound propane tank and to the generator's LPG inlet. Ensure all connections are tight.

Starting the Generator

Ensure the generator is placed outdoors in a well-ventilated area, away from any openings to buildings.

  1. Fuel Selection: Use the patented fuel selector switch to choose between gasoline or propane.
  2. Choke: For cold starts, apply the choke as indicated on the unit.
  3. Start: Pull the recoil start handle firmly or use the electric start button (if equipped) until the engine starts.
  4. Warm-up: Allow the engine to run for a few minutes to warm up before connecting electrical loads.

Connecting Electrical Loads

The generator provides multiple outlets:

  • One 120V 30A RV outlet (TT-30R)
  • One 120V 30A locking outlet (L5-30R)
  • Two 120V 20A household outlets (5-20R)

Connect your appliances or RV power cord to the appropriate outlets. Do not overload the generator; monitor the Intelligauge for power output.

Using Eco Mode

If available, Eco Mode automatically adjusts engine speed to match the load, improving fuel efficiency and reducing noise when less power is required.

Shutting Down the Generator

To shut down the generator, first disconnect all electrical loads. Then, turn the engine switch to the OFF position. If running on gasoline, it is recommended to run the carburetor dry by turning off the fuel valve and letting the engine run until it stops.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and reliable operation of your generator. Refer to the operator's manual for detailed maintenance schedules.

  • Check Oil Level: Always check the engine oil level before each use. The generator has a low oil shut-off sensor to prevent engine damage.
  • Change Oil: Change the engine oil after the first 5-6 hours of operation, and then every 50 hours or annually thereafter.
  • Spark Plug: Inspect and clean the spark plug regularly. Replace if worn or fouled.
  • Air Filter: Clean the air filter element regularly, especially in dusty conditions. Replace if damaged.
  • Spark Arrester: The spark arrester should be cleaned every 100 hours of operation or annually.
