2. Important Safety Instructions
Please read all instructions before using the appliance. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or injury.
- Electrical Safety: Ensure the voltage specified on the appliance matches your local power supply. Do not immerse the appliance, cord, or plug in water or other liquids.

4. Setup
Follow these steps to set up your Nespresso CitiZ machine for the first time:
- Unpack: Carefully remove the machine and all components from the packaging.
- Position: Place the machine on a flat, stable, and heat-resistant surface. Ensure there is enough space around the machine for proper ventilation and access to the water tank.
- Rinse Water Tank: Remove the water tank from the back of the machine. Rinse it thoroughly with fresh drinking water.
- Fill Water Tank: Fill the water tank with fresh drinking water up to the 'MAX' level. Place it back onto the machine.
- Plug In: Connect the power cord to a grounded electrical outlet.
- First Use / Rinsing: Before making your first coffee, it is recommended to run a rinsing cycle. Place a large container (at least 0.5L) under the coffee outlet. Press either the Espresso or Lungo button. The machine will start pumping water through the system. Repeat this process 2-3 times to clean the internal components.

5. Operating Instructions
Your Nespresso CitiZ machine is designed for simple, one-touch operation.
5.1 Making Espresso or Lungo
- Power On: Press either the Espresso or Lungo button to turn on the machine. The buttons will blink while the machine heats up (approximately 25 seconds) and become steady when ready.
- Lift Lever: Lift the lever completely.
- Insert Capsule: Insert a Nespresso Original capsule into the capsule insertion slot.
- Close Lever: Close the lever firmly.
- Place Cup: Place a cup under the coffee outlet. For taller cups, the drip tray can be folded up or removed.
- Select Coffee Size: Press the Espresso button for a 40 ml shot or the Lungo button for a 110 ml shot. The coffee will begin to flow.
- Automatic Stop: The machine will automatically stop when the programmed volume is reached. To manually stop the flow at any time, press the illuminated button again.
- Eject Capsule: After brewing, lift the lever to eject the used capsule into the internal container. Close the lever.

5.2 Programming Coffee Volume
You can customize the volume for both Espresso and Lungo buttons:
- Ensure Ready: Turn on the machine and wait for the buttons to stop blinking.
- Insert Capsule: Insert a Nespresso Original capsule.
- Start Programming: Press and hold the button you wish to program (Espresso or Lungo).
- Release Button: Release the button when your desired coffee volume is reached. The machine will remember this volume for future brews.
5.3 Energy Saving Mode
The machine automatically switches off after 9 minutes of inactivity to conserve energy. This time can be adjusted to 30 minutes by following specific instructions in the full manual (not provided here).
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Nespresso CitiZ machine.
6.1 Daily Cleaning
- Empty Capsule Container: Empty and rinse the used capsule container daily.
- Clean Drip Tray: Remove and clean the drip tray and grid with warm water and a mild detergent.

- Prepare Descaling Solution: Use a Nespresso descaling kit or a suitable descaling solution according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Empty Components: Empty the water tank, used capsule container, and drip tray.
- Fill Tank: Pour the descaling solution into the water tank, then fill with water as instructed by the descaling kit.
- Start Descaling: Follow the specific descaling procedure for your CitiZ model (usually involves pressing and holding both coffee buttons for a few seconds to enter descaling mode, then pressing one button to start the cycle).
- Rinse: After the descaling cycle, rinse the water tank thoroughly and run several cycles with fresh water to remove any descaling residue.
