Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the BOSS CE-2W Waza Craft Chorus Pedal. This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of your new pedal. The CE-2W is a special edition Waza Craft pedal that delivers premium sound based on the legendary CE-1 and CE-2 Chorus pedals, offering classic chorus tones with modern reliability and versatility.

Safety Information

To ensure proper operation and prevent damage, please read this section carefully before using the pedal.

  • Do not expose the unit to direct sunlight, heat sources, or extreme temperatures.
  • Avoid using the unit in excessively dusty or humid environments.
  • Use only the specified power adapter (9V DC, center negative) or a 9V battery.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the unit. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
  • Keep out of reach of small children.

Setup

1. Unboxing and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove the CE-2W pedal from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage that may have occurred during shipping. Ensure all components, including the manual and any included accessories, are present.

2. Power Supply

The CE-2W can be powered by a 9V battery or an optional AC adapter (PSA series, sold separately). A 9V battery is included with the pedal.

Battery Installation:

  1. Loosen the thumbscrew at the front of the pedal and open the pedal cover.
  2. Carefully remove the old battery (if present) and disconnect its snap connector.
  3. Connect the new 9V battery to the snap connector, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Place the battery inside the battery compartment and close the pedal cover, securing it with the thumbscrew.

AC Adapter Connection:

If using an AC adapter, connect it to the 9V DC input jack on the rear of the pedal. Always use a BOSS PSA series adapter for optimal performance and safety.

3. Connecting Your Equipment

The CE-2W features an INPUT jack and two OUTPUT jacks (A and B) for mono or stereo operation.

  • Input: Connect your guitar or other instrument to the INPUT jack.
  • Output A (Mono): For mono operation, connect this output to your amplifier or the next pedal in your signal chain.
  • Output B: For stereo operation, connect Output A to one amplifier/input and Output B to another.

Operating the Pedal

The CE-2W offers three distinct chorus modes, controlled by the mini-toggle switch, along with RATE and DEPTH knobs for fine-tuning your sound.

Controls:

  • RATE Knob: Adjusts the speed of the chorus effect. Turning clockwise increases the rate.
  • DEPTH Knob: Adjusts the intensity or depth of the chorus effect. Turning clockwise increases the depth.
  • Mode Switch (S/CE-1): Selects between the three chorus modes:
    • S (Standard): Reproduces the classic sound of the original CE-2 Chorus pedal.
    • CE-1 (Chorus): Emulates the rich, lush chorus sound of the legendary CE-1 Chorus Ensemble.
    • CE-1 (Vibrato): Provides the unique vibrato effect from the CE-1 Chorus Ensemble.
  • Pedal Switch: Engages or bypasses the effect. The CHECK indicator lights up when the effect is active.

Basic Operation:

  1. Ensure your instrument and amplifier are connected correctly.
  2. Set the RATE and DEPTH knobs to their center positions (12 o'clock) as a starting point.
  3. Select your desired mode using the Mode Switch (S or CE-1).
  4. Press the pedal switch to activate the chorus effect. The CHECK indicator will illuminate.
  5. Adjust the RATE and DEPTH knobs to achieve your desired chorus sound. Experiment with different settings in each mode.
  6. To bypass the effect, press the pedal switch again. The CHECK indicator will turn off.

Maintenance

Cleaning:

Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth. If necessary, use a slightly damp cloth. Never use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.

Storage:

When not in use for extended periods, remove the battery to prevent leakage and potential damage to the unit. Store the pedal in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

Troubleshooting
