To maintain optimal image quality, keep the lenses clean. Use a soft, lint-free cloth specifically designed for camera lenses to gently wipe away dust or smudges. Avoid using abrasive materials or chemical cleaners.

6.2 Storage

When not in use, store the camera in its soft case in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. This helps protect the lenses and internal components.

7. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your Ricoh Theta SC.

7.1 Camera Does Not Turn On

  • Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the camera to a power source using the USB cable and allow it to charge for at least 30 minutes.
  • If the camera still does not turn on, try performing a factory reset by holding down the Wi-Fi button until the power turns off, then attempt to power on again.

7.2 Unable to Connect to Smartphone (Authentication Problem)

  • Verify that the Wi-Fi function on the camera is activated (Wi-Fi LED blinking).
  • Double-check the Wi-Fi password. The default password is the numeric part of the camera's serial number. Ensure no letters or special characters are included unless specified in your camera's documentation.
  • Ensure your smartphone is close to the camera to maintain a strong Wi-Fi signal.
  • Try restarting both the camera and your smartphone.
  • Update the camera's firmware to the latest version using the desktop application, if available.

7.3 Poor Image Quality / Dark Photos

  • Ensure lenses are clean and free from smudges or dust.
  • In low-light conditions, image quality may be reduced. Use the Ricoh Theta app to adjust manual settings like ISO and shutter speed, or utilize features like Multi-shot noise reduction or HDR composition.
  • Avoid shooting directly into bright light sources to minimize lens flare.

7.4 Rapid Battery Drain

  • Turn off the camera when not in use.
  • Deactivate Wi-Fi when not actively connected to a smartphone.
