1. Introduction
The Hormann Ecostar Doortronic is an advanced interior door operator designed to provide automatic opening and closing functionality for your interior doors. This system enhances daily convenience, especially in barrier-free living environments, by allowing door control via a handheld transmitter or a wall-mounted button. It is engineered for safety, comfort, and quiet operation, all while maintaining minimal energy consumption.
This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient installation, operation, and maintenance of your Doortronic system.
2. Safety Information
Please read all safety instructions carefully before installation and operation to prevent injury or damage.
- Low-Force Movement: The Doortronic system operates with extremely low-force door movements. A slight contact is sufficient to stop the door's motion, ensuring safety for users and pets.
- Obstacle Detection: The system is equipped with obstacle detection. If an obstruction is encountered, the door will stop or reverse its movement.
- Power Connection: Ensure the power cable is securely plugged into a suitable electrical outlet. Do not use damaged cables or adapters.
- Installation: Installation should be performed by a competent individual, following all local electrical and building codes.
- Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the door's path during operation.
3. Package Contents

- 1x Sliding Rail (adhesive-backed)
- 1x Handheld Transmitter

- 3-meter Power Cable
4. Installation
The Doortronic system is designed for easy installation. Follow these steps for proper setup:
4.1 Mounting the Motor Unit

4.2 Attaching the Sliding Rail
The sliding rail features an adhesive backing for simple attachment to the door leaf. Position the rail correctly to ensure smooth door operation. The adhesive design allows for residue-free removal, which is beneficial for rental properties.
4.3 Power Connection
Connect the 3-meter power cable from the motor unit to the nearest electrical socket. Ensure the cable is routed safely and does not pose a tripping hazard.

5. Operation
The Doortronic system can be controlled using the included handheld transmitter or an optional wireless interior button. The same handheld transmitter can also control other EcoStar operators.
5.1 Handheld Transmitter and Wall Button
Use the buttons on the handheld transmitter or the wireless wall button to control the door's movement.

5.2 Operating Modes
- Automatic Operation: Pressing a button on the transmitter or wall button opens the door. The door will automatically close after approximately 60 seconds.
- Impulse Operation: Pressing a button opens the door. A second press of the button will close the door.
- Semi-Automatic Operation: Begin opening the door manually. Once it reaches a certain point, the operator will take over and fully open the door. The door will then close either by a light push or automatically after 30 seconds.
- Door Closing Operation: Open the door manually. The operator remains in standby. After approximately 30 seconds, the door will close automatically.
6. Maintenance
To ensure long-term performance and safety of your Doortronic system, perform regular maintenance checks:
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the motor unit and sliding rail with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Obstruction Check: Regularly inspect the door's path for any obstructions that could hinder movement.
- Cable Inspection: Check the power cable for any signs of wear or damage. Replace immediately if damaged.
- Smooth Operation: Ensure the door opens and closes smoothly without unusual noises or resistance.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Doortronic system, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Door Not Responding:
- Check if the power cable is securely plugged in.
- Ensure the handheld transmitter or wall button has working batteries.
- Verify that the remote control is paired correctly with the operator.
- Door Stops Mid-Movement:
- Check for any physical obstructions in the door's path.
- Inspect the sliding rail for debris or damage.
- Remote Control Issues:
- Ensure your remote control operates on the correct frequency (e.g., 868MHz for Hormann products). Some older or incompatible remotes may operate on different frequencies (e.g., 433MHz) and will not work with this system.
- Replace remote control batteries.
- Unusual Noises:
- Inspect the motor unit and sliding rail for loose components or wear.
- Ensure the door hinges are well-lubricated and the door moves freely without the operator.
If the problem persists, contact Hormann customer support.
