Important Safety Information

• Read all instructions before operating the appliance.

Setup and First Use

Before using your Cuisinart Coffee Center for the first time, it is important to clean the unit thoroughly.

1. Unpack: Carefully unpack the coffee maker and remove all packaging materials.
2. Clean Components: Wash the 12-cup glass carafe, carafe lid, reusable gold-tone filter, HomeBarista reusable filter cup, and removable drip tray in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
3. Install Charcoal Water Filter: If not already installed, place the charcoal water filter into its holder in the water reservoir.
4. Initial Cleaning Cycle (12-Cup Side):
   • Fill the 12-cup water reservoir with cold water to the 12-cup mark.
   • Place the carafe with its lid on the heating plate.
   • Press the "CLEAN" button. The clean indicator light will illuminate.
   • Allow the cycle to complete. Discard the water from the carafe.
5. Initial Cleaning Cycle (Single-Serve Side):
   • Fill the 40oz removable water reservoir with cold water.
   • Place a large mug or cup on the drip tray.
   • Press the "CLEAN" button for the single-serve side. The clean indicator light will illuminate.
   • Allow the cycle to complete. Discard the water from the mug.
6. Your Cuisinart Coffee Center is now ready for use.

Operating Instructions

Brewing 12-Cup Carafe

1. Fill Water Reservoir: Open the reservoir cover and fill the 12-cup water reservoir with cold, fresh water to the desired level using the water level indicator.
2. Add Coffee Grounds: Insert the reusable gold-tone filter into the filter basket. Add the desired amount of ground coffee (approximately 1 scoop per cup, adjust to taste). Close the filter basket cover.
3. Place Carafe: Ensure the glass carafe with its lid is properly placed on the heating plate.
4. Select Brew Strength (Optional): Press the "BOLD" button if you prefer a stronger coffee flavor.
5. Start Brewing: Press the "BREW" button. The brew indicator light will illuminate, and brewing will begin.
6. Brew Pause Feature: You can temporarily remove the carafe during the brewing cycle to pour a cup. The flow of coffee will stop automatically. Replace the carafe within 20 seconds to prevent overflow.
7. Keep Warm: The heating plate will keep the coffee warm after brewing. The "WARM" indicator light will be on. You can adjust the carafe temperature using the "CARAFE TEMP" dial (L, M, H).
8. Auto-Off: The coffeemaker will automatically shut off after a set period (adjustable from 0-4 hours).

Brewing Single Serve

1. Fill Water Reservoir: Ensure the 40oz removable water reservoir on the single-serve side is filled with cold, fresh water.
2. Insert Pod or Grounds:
   • For single-serve pods (e.g., K-Cup pods): Lift the handle, insert the pod into the holder, and lower the handle firmly.
   • For your own ground coffee: Insert the HomeBarista reusable filter cup into the holder, add desired amount of ground coffee, and lower the handle firmly.
3. Place Mug: Place your mug or travel mug on the drip tray. The drip tray can be removed to accommodate taller travel mugs.
4. Select Brew Size: Choose your desired brew size by pressing the 6 oz, 8 oz, or 10 oz button.
5. Start Brewing: The selected button will illuminate, and brewing will begin.
6. Completion: Brewing will stop automatically when the selected volume is dispensed.

Programming Features

• Setting the Clock:
  • Press the "CLOCK" button.
  • Use the "HR" and "MIN" buttons to set the current time. Hold to scroll quickly.
  • Press "CLOCK" again to confirm, or wait 5 seconds for it to set automatically.
• Setting Auto-On (Program Brew):
  • Prepare the 12-cup coffeemaker side as if brewing immediately (water, coffee, carafe in place).
  • Press the "PROG" button. The program indicator light will flash.
  • Use the "HR" and "MIN" buttons to set the desired brew start time.
  • Press "PROG" again to confirm. The program indicator light will glow steadily.
• Adjusting Auto-Off Time:
  • Press the "AUTO OFF" button. The auto-off indicator light will flash.
  • Use the "HR" and "MIN" buttons to set the desired auto-off time (0-4 hours).
  • Press "AUTO OFF" again to confirm. The auto-off indicator light will glow steadily.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.

• Daily Cleaning:
  • Always unplug the appliance before cleaning.
  • Wash the carafe, carafe lid, reusable gold-tone filter, HomeBarista reusable filter cup, and drip tray in warm, soapy water after each use. These parts are also top-rack dishwasher safe.
  • Wipe the exterior of the unit with a clean, damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water.
• Self-Clean Function (Descaling):

  Mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffee maker and affect its performance. The "CLEAN" function helps remove these deposits.

  1. Fill the 12-cup water reservoir with a mixture of 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 water.
  2. Place the empty carafe on the heating plate.
  3. Press the "CLEAN" button for the 12-cup side. The clean indicator light will illuminate.
  4. After the cycle completes, run 2-3 cycles with fresh cold water to rinse thoroughly.
  5. For the single-serve side, fill its 40oz reservoir with the same vinegar/water solution. Place a large mug. Press the "CLEAN" button for the single-serve side. Run 2-3 cycles with fresh water afterwards.
• Charcoal Water Filter Replacement: Replace the charcoal water filter every 60 days or after 60 uses, or more often if you have hard water.
