Baomain CJX2-3210 AC Contactor User Manual
Model: CJX2-3210
1. Introduction
The Baomain CJX2-3210 AC Contactor is a robust electrical device designed for controlling power circuits, particularly for switching three-phase motors, pumps, and other industrial equipment. It features a 3-pole configuration with a 32A current rating for AC-3 applications at 380V, and is equipped with a 110V 50/60Hz coil for universal control voltage compatibility. An additional 1NO (Normally Open) auxiliary contact provides flexibility for control and signaling circuits. Its DIN rail mount design ensures easy and secure installation in control panels.
Important Note: AC contactors are specifically designed for AC power input. Their electromagnetic and contact systems are tailored for AC characteristics. They must not be powered by DC, as stable operation is only guaranteed within specified AC voltage ranges.
2. Safety Information
Always observe the following safety precautions when installing, operating, or maintaining the AC Contactor:
- Ensure all power is disconnected before installation or maintenance to prevent electric shock.
- Installation should only be performed by qualified personnel familiar with electrical wiring and safety standards.
- Verify that the supply voltage and current ratings match the contactor's specifications.
- Do not exceed the rated current or voltage of the contactor.
- Proper grounding must be established according to local electrical codes.
- Protect the contactor from moisture, dust, and corrosive environments.
- Never attempt to repair a damaged contactor; replace it with a new one.

5. Setup and Installation
The Baomain CJX2-3210 AC Contactor is designed for easy installation on a standard 35mm DIN rail within an electrical control panel.
5.1. Pre-Installation Checks
- Ensure the main power supply to the circuit is completely disconnected and locked out.
- Verify that the contactor's voltage and current ratings match the requirements of your application.
- Inspect the contactor for any physical damage.
5.2. Mounting
- Locate an appropriate section of the DIN rail within your control panel.
- Align the contactor's DIN rail clip with the rail.
- Press the contactor firmly onto the DIN rail until the clip engages securely. Ensure it is stable and does not wobble.
5.3. Wiring Connections
Refer to the wiring diagram on the contactor's label (Figure 4.5) and the component identification (Figure 4.3) for correct terminal connections.
- Main Power Circuit: Connect the incoming three-phase power lines to terminals L1, L2, and L3. Connect the load (e.g., motor) to terminals T1, T2, and T3. Ensure all connections are tight and secure to prevent overheating and arcing.
- Control Circuit (Coil): Connect the 110V AC control voltage to the A1 and A2 coil terminals. The coil is responsible for energizing the contactor and closing the main contacts.
- Auxiliary Contact: The 1NO (Normally Open) auxiliary contact (terminals 13 and 14) can be used for signaling, interlocking, or other control functions. When the contactor coil is energized, this contact will close.

These diagrams illustrate the symbols for Normally Open (NO) and Normally Closed (NC) contacts. The CJX2-3210 model includes one Normally Open (NO) auxiliary contact.
After all connections are made, double-check wiring for correctness and tightness before restoring power.
6. Operating Principles
An AC contactor operates on the principle of electromagnetism. When the control voltage (110V AC in this case) is applied to the coil terminals (A1 and A2), an electromagnetic field is generated. This field attracts a movable armature, causing the main power contacts (L1-T1, L2-T2, L3-T3) to close, thereby completing the circuit and supplying power to the connected load.
Simultaneously, any auxiliary contacts will change their state. For the CJX2-3210, the 1NO auxiliary contact will close when the coil is energized. When the control voltage is removed from the coil, the electromagnetic field collapses, and a spring mechanism returns the armature to its original position, opening the main power contacts and the 1NO auxiliary contact, thus disconnecting power to the load.
7. Maintenance
The Baomain CJX2-3210 AC Contactor is designed for reliable operation with minimal maintenance. However, periodic checks can help ensure its longevity and safe performance.
- Visual Inspection: Regularly inspect the contactor for signs of overheating (discoloration), loose connections, or physical damage.
- Terminal Tightness: Periodically check and re-tighten all terminal screws to ensure good electrical contact. Loose connections can lead to arcing and overheating.
- Cleanliness: Keep the contactor free from dust, dirt, and moisture. Use a dry, lint-free cloth for cleaning. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
- Contact Wear: While not typically user-serviceable, excessive arcing or chattering may indicate contact wear. If such issues are observed, consider replacing the contactor.
Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance or inspection.
8. Troubleshooting
This section provides guidance for common issues you might encounter with your AC Contactor.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Contactor does not energize (does not pull in) | No control voltage to coil (A1/A2) Incorrect coil voltage Damaged coil Loose wiring connections | Check control circuit power supply. Verify coil voltage matches supply (110V AC). Test coil resistance; replace contactor if open or shorted. Tighten all control circuit wiring. |
| Contactor energizes but load does not receive power | Open main contacts Loose main power wiring Overload condition Damaged main contacts | Check continuity across main contacts (L1-T1, etc.) when energized. Tighten all main power circuit wiring. Check for overload on the load circuit; reset overload relay if present. Replace contactor if contacts are visibly damaged or pitted. |
| Contactor hums excessively or chatters | Low coil voltage Foreign material in magnet assembly Damaged shading coil Incorrect frequency | Verify stable 110V AC supply to coil. Inspect and clean the magnet pole faces. Replace contactor. Ensure supply frequency is 50Hz or 60Hz. |
| Contactor overheats | Overcurrent on main contacts Loose connections Frequent switching High ambient temperature | Ensure load current does not exceed 32A (AC-3, 380V). Tighten all power connections. Reduce switching frequency if possible. Improve ventilation in the control panel. |
If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, contact a qualified electrician or the manufacturer's support.
