Setup & Installation
Careful planning and accurate measurements are crucial for a successful installation. Ensure you have all components and necessary tools before starting.
Pre-installation Checks:
- Door Compatibility: Ensure your door panel is between 42"-48" wide and 1 3/8" to 1 3/4" thick. The maximum weight capacity is 260 lbs.
- Wall Structure: The track must be mounted to solid wood studs or a sturdy header board securely fastened to studs. Standard 16-inch stud spacing is assumed.
- Clearance: Ensure at least 5 inches of clearance above the top of the door frame for the track and rollers.

Tools Required:
- Pencil for marking
- Measuring Tape
- Level
- Drill and drill bits
- Wrench or Socket Set
- Stud Finder (if not using a header board)
Installation Steps:
- Prepare the Wall: Locate wall studs. If studs do not align with the pre-drilled holes in the rail, install a sturdy wooden header board (e.g., 1x4 or 2x4) across the door opening, ensuring it is level and securely fastened to at least two studs.
- Assemble the Rail: If you have two 4ft rails, connect them using the rail connector provided. Ensure the connection is tight and flush.
- Mount the Track: Mark the desired height for the track, ensuring adequate clearance. Drill pilot holes and attach the track to the wall or header board using the rail spacers and lag bolts. Ensure the track is perfectly level.
- Install Rollers on Door: Attach the rollers to the top edge of your door panel. Ensure they are evenly spaced and securely fastened.
- Hang the Door: Carefully lift the door panel and hook the rollers onto the track.
- Install Door Stops: Slide the door stops onto the track at both ends to prevent the door from rolling off. Adjust their position to control the door's travel and tighten them securely.
- Install Floor Guide: Position the floor guide on the floor directly below the door. Mark and drill pilot holes, then secure the guide. This prevents the door from swinging out.

Operating Instructions
Your SMARTSTANDARD barn door hardware is designed for smooth and quiet operation. To open or close the door, simply grasp the door handle and slide the door along the track. The nylon pulleys with bearings ensure minimal friction and noise.
The installed door stops will prevent the door from exceeding its intended travel limits, ensuring safe and controlled movement.
Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and continued smooth operation of your barn door hardware, follow these simple maintenance tips:
- Regular Cleaning: Periodically wipe down the track and rollers with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Check Fasteners: Every few months, inspect all screws and bolts on the track and rollers to ensure they remain tight. Tighten any loose fasteners to prevent wobbling or noise.
- Roller Inspection: Check the nylon pulleys for any signs of wear or damage. While designed for durability (100,000 open/close cycles), extreme conditions may affect them.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your barn door hardware, refer to the following common solutions:
- Door not sliding smoothly:
- Check the track for any obstructions or debris and clean thoroughly.
- Ensure the track is level. An unlevel track can cause resistance.
- Inspect rollers for damage or excessive wear.
- Excessive noise during operation:
- Tighten all mounting bolts on the track and rollers.
- Ensure the door stops have their rubber bumpers intact and are properly positioned.
- Door swinging out from the wall:
- Verify the floor guide is securely installed and properly aligned with the door.
