3. Setup

3.1 Initial Powering

Your Citizen Quartz watch is powered by a long-lasting battery that is charged by light. While it does not require frequent battery changes, it may arrive in a low power state. To ensure optimal performance, expose the watch face to bright light (natural or artificial) for several hours before initial use. Avoid extreme heat.

3.2 Setting the Time and Date

  1. Locate the Crown: The crown is the small knob on the right side of the watch case.
  2. Pull Out the Crown: Gently pull the crown out to the first click position to set the date, or to the second click position to set the time. When the screw lock is released, the crown pops out a little and stops in the normal position.
  3. Set the Date (First Click): Rotate the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise to adjust the date. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 1 AM, as this can damage the movement.
  4. Set the Time (Second Click): Pull the crown out to the second click position. Rotate the crown to move the hour and minute hands. To ensure accurate time setting, synchronize with a reliable time source. Push the crown back in completely to start the watch.

3.3 Adjusting the Bracelet

The stainless steel bracelet can be adjusted to fit your wrist. This process typically involves removing or adding links. Due to the precision required, it is recommended to have this adjustment performed by a qualified jeweler or watchmaker to prevent damage to the bracelet or watch.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Timekeeping

Once the time and date are set, your watch will continuously display the current time. The quartz movement ensures high accuracy. If the watch stops, ensure it is exposed to sufficient light for recharging.

4.2 Water Resistance

This watch is water resistant to 50 meters (165 feet). This means it is suitable for everyday use and can withstand splashes, rain, and short periods of recreational swimming. It is not suitable for diving, snorkeling, or prolonged water exposure. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any contact with water.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

To maintain the appearance of your watch, wipe the case and bracelet regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Avoid using chemical cleaners, as these can damage the watch's finish.

5.2 Powering and Storage

As a light-powered watch, regular exposure to light is essential. If stored in darkness for extended periods, the watch may stop. To restart, expose it to bright light. Store your watch in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight for prolonged periods when not in use, to prevent potential discoloration or damage from excessive heat.
