1. Introduction

The Yale DDV5800 Digital Door Viewer enhances your home security by providing a clear view of who is at your door. Equipped with a 4.3-inch LCD screen, a 110-degree wide-angle camera, and an integrated doorbell, this device allows you to see and record visitors. It features night vision for low-light conditions and automatically captures images or videos when the doorbell is pressed or motion is detected, storing them on a supplied Micro-SD card.

2. Package Contents

Please check that all the following components are included in your package:

3. Setup and Installation

The Yale DDV5800 is designed for easy installation, replacing a traditional optical peephole. It is suitable for doors with a thickness between 38mm and 110mm and existing peephole holes with a diameter between 14mm and 22mm.

3.1. Preparation

  1. Ensure your door meets the thickness and peephole diameter requirements.
  2. Remove any existing traditional peephole from your door.
  3. Insert the 4 AAA batteries into the indoor display unit.
  4. Ensure the 4GB Micro-SD card is correctly inserted into the designated slot on the indoor unit.

3.2. Installing the Outdoor Camera Unit

  1. Insert the outdoor camera unit through the peephole hole from the exterior side of the door.
  2. Ensure the unit is oriented correctly with the camera lens and doorbell button facing outwards.

3.3. Attaching the Indoor Display Unit

  1. From the interior side of the door, slide the screen holder over the cable extending from the outdoor unit.
  2. Select the appropriate adapter tube based on your door's thickness and screw it onto the outdoor unit's thread.
  3. Connect the cable from the outdoor unit to the indoor display unit.
  4. Mount the indoor display unit onto the screen holder, securing it with the provided adhesive fixing or screws if applicable. Ensure the unit is level and firmly attached.
  5. Use the tool key to tighten the components if necessary.

4. Operating Instructions

The Yale DDV5800 is designed for straightforward operation to monitor your doorstep.

4.1. Viewing Live Feed

To view who is at your door, simply press the power button on the side of the indoor display unit. The 4.3-inch LCD screen will activate, showing a live video feed from the outdoor camera. The 110-degree wide-angle lens provides a broad perspective of your doorstep.

4.2. Photo and Video Recording

The device can record images or videos automatically:

  • Doorbell Activation: When a visitor presses the doorbell button on the outdoor unit, the indoor screen will activate, and the device will automatically capture an image or record a short video.
  • Motion Detection: The integrated motion sensor can detect movement at your door and automatically trigger image or video recording.
  • All recorded images and videos are stamped with the date and time for accurate record-keeping.

4.3. Night Vision

The outdoor camera unit is equipped with infrared (IR) capabilities, enabling clear visibility even in low-light or nighttime conditions. This ensures you can identify visitors at any time of day.

4.4. Accessing Recordings

Recorded images and videos are stored on the 4GB Micro-SD card. You can access these recordings directly from the indoor display unit using the menu buttons, or by removing the Micro-SD card and viewing its contents on a computer or compatible device.

  • Battery Replacement: The device is powered by 4 AAA batteries. When the battery indicator shows low power, replace all four batteries with new ones. Ensure correct polarity.

  • Micro-SD Card Management: Periodically review the contents of your Micro-SD card. If the card becomes full, you may need to delete old recordings or format the card to free up space. Back up important recordings before deleting.
