3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

1. Ensure the camcorder is powered off.
2. Locate the battery compartment on the rear of the camcorder.
3. Align the battery with the compartment and slide it in until it clicks securely into place.
4. To remove, press the battery release lever and slide the battery out.

3.2 Memory Card Insertion

The GY-HM620 supports SDHC/SDXC memory cards.

1. Open the memory card slot cover, typically located on the side of the camcorder.
2. Insert the SDHC/SDXC card into the slot with the label facing the correct direction (refer to the diagram near the slot).
3. Push the card gently until it clicks into place.
4. Close the memory card slot cover.
5. To remove, push the card in slightly until it springs out, then pull it out.

3.3 Initial Power On

1. Ensure a charged battery is installed or the AC adapter is connected.
2. Locate the POWER switch, usually on the side or rear of the camcorder.
3. Slide the switch to the 'ON' position. The LCD display and viewfinder should illuminate.
4. Follow any on-screen prompts for initial setup, such as setting date and time.

4. Operating the Camcorder

4.1 Basic Recording

1. Power on the camcorder.
2. Select the desired recording mode using the MODE dial or menu.
3. Frame your shot using the LCD display or viewfinder.
4. Press the REC START/STOP button to begin recording. The recording indicator will illuminate.
5. Press the REC START/STOP button again to stop recording.

4.2 Zoom Operation

The camcorder features a 23x optical zoom lens.

• Use the zoom rocker on the handle or lens barrel to zoom in (T) or out (W).
• Adjust zoom speed by varying pressure on the rocker.

4.3 Focus Control

The GY-HM620 offers both auto and manual focus.

• Auto Focus: Set the FOCUS switch to 'AUTO'. The camcorder will automatically adjust focus.
• Manual Focus: Set the FOCUS switch to 'MANUAL'. Rotate the focus ring on the lens barrel to adjust focus. Use the FOCUS ASSIST function for precise manual focusing.

4.4 Audio Recording

The camcorder is equipped with two XLR inputs for external microphones or audio sources.

1. Connect your microphone or audio device to the XLR input terminals.
2. Adjust the audio input level using the dedicated audio level dials and switches on the camcorder's side panel.
3. Monitor audio levels on the LCD display to prevent clipping.

1. Switch the camcorder to PLAYBACK mode.
2. Use the navigation buttons to select the desired clip.
3. Press the PLAY button to start playback.
