3. Physical Overview
3.1 Front Panel Indicators

3.2 Rear Panel Ports and Buttons

- LAN Ports (1-4): Four Gigabit Ethernet ports for connecting wired devices.
- WAN Port: One Gigabit Ethernet port for connecting to your modem.

4. Setup
4.1 Initial Hardware Connection
- Power Off: Disconnect power from your modem and existing router (if any).
- Connect Modem: Connect one end of the provided Ethernet cable to the WAN port (blue) on the Zyxel Armor Z2 router and the other end to your modem's Ethernet port.
- Connect Power: Connect the power adapter to the DC In port on the router and plug it into a power outlet.
- Power On: Power on your modem first, wait for it to fully boot (usually indicated by stable lights), then power on the Zyxel Armor Z2 router.
- Connect Devices:
- Wired: Connect your computer or other wired devices to any of the yellow LAN ports (1-4) on the router using Ethernet cables.
- Wireless: Locate the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password printed on the label on the bottom of your router. Connect your wireless devices (smartphones, tablets, laptops) to this network.
4.2 Web Interface Setup

- Access Router: Open a web browser on a connected device and enter
http://myrouteror192.168.1.1in the address bar. - Login: Enter the default username (usually admin) and password (usually 1234 or found on the router label). You will be prompted to change the default password for security.
- Run Setup Wizard: Follow the on-screen instructions of the "eaZy 123 Setup" wizard to configure your Internet connection type (e.g., DHCP, PPPoE) and set up your wireless network names (SSIDs) and passwords for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
- Apply Settings: Save your settings and allow the router to restart if prompted.
Note: For advanced configurations, switch to "Expert Mode" within the web interface.
5. Operating Your Router
5.1 Wireless Network Management
The Zyxel Armor Z2 supports dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) with MU-MIMO and Beamforming technologies for optimal performance.

- Changing Wi-Fi Settings: Log in to the web interface. Navigate to the "Wireless" section to modify SSIDs, passwords, security types, and channel settings for both bands.
- Guest Network: Enable a separate guest network for visitors to provide Internet access without sharing your main network resources.
- WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup): Press the WPS button on the router and then on your WPS-compatible device to quickly connect without entering a password.
5.2 StreamBoost™ Technology for Optimized Performance

5.3 Usage Monitor
The router's web interface includes a usage monitor that allows you to track bandwidth consumption by device and application, providing insights into your network activity.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Firmware Upgrade
Keeping your router's firmware up to date ensures optimal performance, security, and access to new features.
- Check for Updates: Log in to the router's web interface. Navigate to Maintenance > Firmware Upgrade. Click "Check for Latest Firmware Now".
- Download and Install: If an update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install it. Do not power off the router during the upgrade process.
6.2 Factory Reset
A factory reset will revert all settings to their default values. This can be useful for troubleshooting or when reconfiguring the router.
- Via Button: With the router powered on, use a paperclip or thin object to press and hold the Reset button on the rear panel for approximately 10 seconds until the LEDs flash. Release the button and wait for the router to restart.
- Via Web Interface: Log in to the web interface. Navigate to Maintenance > Backup/Restore and select the option to restore factory defaults.
7. Troubleshooting
7.1 No Internet Connection
- Check Cables: Ensure the Ethernet cable from your modem is securely connected to the router's WAN port.
- Modem Status: Verify that your modem is working correctly and has an active Internet connection (check its indicator lights).
- Router LEDs: Check the Internet LED on the router. If it's off or red, there might be an issue with the connection to your modem or ISP.
- Restart Devices: Power off your modem, then the router, then your computer. Wait 30 seconds, then power on the modem, wait for it to boot, then power on the router, and finally your computer.
- ISP Settings: Confirm your Internet Service Provider (ISP) connection type and settings are correctly configured in the router's web interface.
7.2 Weak Wi-Fi Signal or Slow Speeds
- Router Placement: Position the router in a central location, away from obstructions (walls, large metal objects) and interference sources (microwaves, cordless phones).
- Antenna Orientation: Adjust the router's antennas for optimal signal coverage.
- Interference: Change the Wi-Fi channel in the router's settings to avoid interference from neighboring networks. Use a Wi-Fi analyzer app to find less congested channels.
- Device Compatibility: Ensure your devices support 5GHz Wi-Fi and MU-MIMO for best performance.
- Firmware Update: Ensure your router's firmware is up to date.
7.3 Cannot Access Router Web Interface
- IP Address: Ensure your computer is set to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP).
- Correct Address: Double-check that you are entering
http://myrouteror192.168.1.1correctly in the browser. - Wired Connection: Try connecting your computer directly to one of the router's LAN ports with an Ethernet cable.
- Firewall/Antivirus: Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your computer that might be blocking access.
- Factory Reset: If all else fails, perform a factory reset (see Section 6.2).
