4. Device Components

Monitor Unit:

5. Setup
5.1 Installing Batteries
- Open the battery cover on the back of the monitor unit.
- Insert four (4) AAA batteries according to the polarity indicators (+ and -) inside the compartment.
- Close the battery cover securely.
5.2 Connecting the Cuff
- Locate the air tube connector on the cuff.
- Firmly insert the air tube connector into the cuff socket on the side of the monitor unit. Ensure a snug fit to prevent air leakage during measurement.
5.3 Applying the Cuff
Proper cuff placement is crucial for accurate readings.
- Remove tight-fitting clothing from your upper left arm.
- Sit in a comfortable position with your feet flat on the floor and your arm resting on a table, palm facing up.
- Wrap the cuff around your bare upper arm, approximately 1-2 cm above the elbow joint. The air tube should run down the center of your arm.
- Ensure the cuff is snug but not too tight; you should be able to insert two fingers between the cuff and your arm.
- The artery mark on the cuff should be aligned with your brachial artery (on the inside of your arm).

6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Before Measurement
- Avoid eating, drinking alcohol, smoking, exercising, and bathing for 30 minutes before measurement.
- Rest for at least 5 minutes before taking a measurement.
- Sit upright with your back supported and feet flat on the floor. Do not cross your legs.
- Ensure the cuff is at heart level.
6.2 Taking a Measurement
- With the cuff correctly applied and connected, press the START/STOP button.
- The cuff will automatically inflate. Remain still and silent during the measurement.
- Once the measurement is complete, the cuff will deflate, and your Systolic (SYS), Diastolic (DIA) blood pressure, and Pulse rate will be displayed on the screen.
- Press the START/STOP button again to turn off the device, or it will automatically shut off after 1 minute of inactivity.

6.3 Understanding Display Indicators
- Cuff Detection: An "OK" symbol or similar indicator confirms the cuff is correctly applied and connected. If not displayed, re-adjust the cuff.
- Movement Detection: If excessive movement is detected during measurement, an icon will appear, indicating that the reading may be inaccurate. Re-measure if this occurs.
- Hypertension Risk Indication: A color-coded bar or symbol on the display indicates the risk level of hypertension based on your readings. Consult a healthcare professional for interpretation.
- Irregular Heartbeat Detection (IHB): If an irregular heartbeat is detected, an IHB symbol will appear. If this symbol appears frequently, consult your physician.
- Last Number Memory Recall: The device automatically stores the last measurement. Refer to the memory section for accessing past readings.
7. Memory Function
The Rossmax X1 automatically stores the last measurement taken. To view the last reading, simply turn on the device. The last recorded measurement will be displayed briefly before the device is ready for a new measurement.
