2. Safety Instructions
Always observe basic safety precautions when using electric tools to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury. Keep this manual handy for quick reference.
2.1 General Safety Warnings
- Read all safety warnings and instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
- Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
- Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
- Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
2.2 Chainsaw Specific Safety
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety helmet, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, and protective legwear.
- Ensure the chain brake is engaged before starting the chainsaw.
- Hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands when operating.
- Be aware of kickback. Kickback may occur when the nose or tip of the guide bar touches an object, or when the wood closes in and pinches the saw chain in the cut.
- Do not operate the chainsaw with one hand. One-handed operation may result in serious injury to the operator, helper, or bystanders.
- Maintain proper footing and balance. Do not overreach.
- Do not use the chainsaw in wet conditions.
- Always ensure the chain is properly tensioned and lubricated.
3. Setup and Assembly
Before operating your chainsaw, proper assembly and initial setup are crucial for safety and performance. This model is supplied without a battery and charger, which must be purchased separately.
3.1 Unpacking
Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all parts listed in the packing list are present and undamaged. If any parts are missing or damaged, contact customer service immediately.
3.2 Installing the Guide Bar and Chain
- Ensure the chainsaw is switched off and the battery is removed.
- Loosen the chain cover nuts and remove the chain cover.
- Place the chain around the sprocket and guide bar. Ensure the cutting edges of the chain are facing the correct direction.
- Fit the guide bar onto the studs, ensuring the chain fits into the groove of the guide bar.
- Replace the chain cover and hand-tighten the nuts. Do not fully tighten yet.
3.3 Adjusting Chain Tension
The chain tension can be adjusted without tools. Proper chain tension is vital for safe and efficient operation.
- With the chain cover nuts slightly loose, turn the tensioning screw (usually a red dial on the side) clockwise to increase tension, or counter-clockwise to decrease tension.
- The chain is correctly tensioned when it can be pulled away from the guide bar by approximately 2-3 mm at the center, but still moves freely around the guide bar.
- Once tension is set, fully tighten the chain cover nuts.
3.4 Filling Chain Oil Reservoir
The chainsaw features automatic chain lubrication. It is essential to fill the oil reservoir with appropriate chain lubricant before each use.
- Ensure the chainsaw is on a level surface.
- Unscrew the oil reservoir cap (black cap near the handle).
- Carefully pour chain lubricant into the reservoir until it reaches the maximum fill line.
- Replace and securely tighten the oil reservoir cap.

3.5 Battery Installation
This chainsaw is part of the Einhell Power X-Change family and uses an 18V Lithium-Ion battery (not included).
- Align the battery with the battery slot on the chainsaw.
- Slide the battery into the slot until it clicks securely into place.
- To remove, press the release button(s) on the battery and slide it out.

4. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps for safe and effective operation of your cordless chainsaw.
4.1 Starting the Chainsaw
- Ensure the battery is fully charged and correctly installed.
- Engage the chain brake by pushing the front hand guard forward until it clicks.
- Hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands, one on the rear handle and one on the front handle.
- Disengage the chain brake by pulling the front hand guard back towards the front handle.
- Press the safety lock-off button (if present) and then squeeze the trigger switch to start the motor.
4.2 Cutting Techniques
- Felling small trees: Plan your escape path. Make a directional notch on the side of the tree in the direction of the fall, then make a felling cut from the opposite side, slightly above the notch.
- Limbing: Work from the bottom up, supporting the branch to prevent pinching. Be aware of spring-back from bent branches.
- Bucking (cutting logs): Support the log to prevent it from rolling. Cut from the top down (overbucking) or bottom up (underbucking) depending on the log's support to avoid pinching.
4.3 Stopping the Chainsaw
Release the trigger switch to stop the motor. Engage the chain brake immediately after stopping the cut or when moving between cuts.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your chainsaw.
5.1 Cleaning
- After each use, remove the battery and clean the chainsaw thoroughly.
- Remove sawdust, chips, and debris from the guide bar, chain, and sprocket area.
- Clean the air vents to prevent overheating.
- Use a damp cloth to wipe down the exterior. Do not use harsh chemicals.
5.2 Chain Sharpening
A sharp chain is crucial for efficient cutting and safety. Sharpen the chain regularly or have it professionally sharpened.
5.3 Guide Bar Maintenance
- Periodically clean the guide bar groove to remove accumulated sawdust.
- Flip the guide bar regularly to ensure even wear.
5.4 Storage
- Store the chainsaw in a dry, secure place, out of reach of children.
- Remove the battery before storage.
- Ensure the chain brake is engaged and the guide bar cover is in place.
