1. Important Safety Instructions
Read all safety warnings and instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
General Power Tool Safety Warnings
- Work Area Safety: Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust.
- Electrical Safety: Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools.
- Personal Safety: Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.
- Tool Use and Care: Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off.
- Battery Tool Use and Care: Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs.

3. Setup
3.1 Unpacking
Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all parts listed in the packing list are present and undamaged. Dispose of packaging materials responsibly.
3.2 Attaching/Removing the Battery Pack
- To attach: Align the battery pack with the base of the tool handle. Slide the battery pack into the handle until it clicks securely into place.
- To remove: Press the battery release button (usually located on the side of the battery pack) and slide the battery pack out of the handle.
3.3 Installing/Removing Drill Bits or Screwdriver Bits
- To install: Rotate the chuck counter-clockwise until the jaws are open wide enough to insert the bit. Insert the bit fully into the chuck. Rotate the chuck clockwise to tighten the jaws securely around the bit.
- To remove: Rotate the chuck counter-clockwise to loosen the jaws and pull the bit out.
Always ensure the tool is switched off and the battery is removed before changing accessories.
4. Charging the Battery
The Ferm CDM1126 uses 10.8V Li-Ion battery packs. It is recommended to fully charge the battery before first use. A full charge takes approximately 1.2 hours.
- Remove the battery pack from the screwdriver.
- Connect the charger to a standard 220-240V ~ 50-60Hz power outlet.
- Insert the battery pack into the charger. The charging indicator light on the charger will illuminate to show charging status.
- Once charging is complete (refer to charger's indicator for full charge), disconnect the battery from the charger and unplug the charger from the power outlet.
Note: The battery indicator on the tool provides an approximate charge level during use.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Powering On/Off
Press the trigger switch to turn the tool on. Release the trigger switch to turn the tool off. The integrated LED work light will illuminate when the trigger is pressed.
5.2 Variable Speed Control
The tool features variable electronic speed control. The speed can be adjusted by varying the pressure on the trigger switch. Lighter pressure results in lower speed, while heavier pressure increases the speed.
5.3 Gear Selection (Two-Speed)
Use the gear selector switch (typically located on top of the tool) to choose between two speed ranges:
- Gear 1 (Low Speed, 0-400/min): Ideal for high torque applications like driving screws or drilling large diameter holes.
- Gear 2 (High Speed, 0-1400/min): Suitable for faster drilling with smaller diameter bits.
Always ensure the tool has come to a complete stop before changing gears to prevent damage.
5.4 Torque Setting
The torque adjustment ring allows you to select from 18 torque settings for screwdriving, plus a dedicated drilling mode. Rotate the ring to the desired setting. Lower numbers are for smaller screws or softer materials, higher numbers for larger screws or harder materials. The drill symbol is for drilling applications where maximum torque is required.
5.5 Forward/Reverse Rotation
The forward/reverse switch (located above the trigger) controls the direction of rotation. Push the switch to the left for forward rotation (screwing in/drilling) and to the right for reverse rotation (unscrewing/removing bits). Position the switch in the center to lock the trigger and prevent accidental starting.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your tool.
- Cleaning: Keep the ventilation slots of the tool clean to prevent overheating. Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the tool casing. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Chuck Maintenance: Periodically clean the chuck jaws to ensure proper gripping of bits.
- Battery Care: Store batteries in a cool, dry place. Do not store fully discharged batteries for extended periods. Recharge batteries regularly, even if not in use, to maintain their lifespan.
- Storage: When not in use, store the tool and its accessories in the provided carrying case, in a dry, secure location out of reach of children.
Always remove the battery pack before performing any cleaning or maintenance.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Tool does not start. | Battery is discharged. Battery not properly inserted. Forward/reverse switch in center (locked) position. | Charge the battery. Re-insert battery until it clicks. Move switch to forward or reverse position. |
| Reduced power or speed. | Battery is low. Overload. | Recharge the battery. Reduce pressure on the tool or use a lower gear setting. |
| Chuck does not hold bit. | Chuck not tightened sufficiently. Bit shank is dirty or damaged. | Tighten chuck firmly. Clean or replace the bit. |
