Maintenance
Proper care ensures the longevity and performance of your G-Shock watch.
- Cleaning: Wipe the watch regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a mild soap solution and rinse thoroughly under running water, ensuring all buttons are pressed and released while submerged to clear debris. Dry completely.
- Water Resistance: The watch is rated for 200-meter water resistance. Do not operate buttons underwater. After exposure to saltwater, rinse the watch with fresh water and dry it thoroughly.
- Temperature Exposure: Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures (above 60°C / 140°F or below -10°C / 14°F) for extended periods.
- Chemicals: Avoid contact with gasoline, cleaning solvents, aerosols, adhesives, paints, etc. These can cause discoloration or damage to the resin case and band.
- Battery Replacement: The battery life is approximately 2 years. When the display becomes dim or functions become erratic, it's time for a battery replacement. It is recommended to have the battery replaced by an authorized Casio service center to ensure water resistance is maintained.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your watch, refer to the following common solutions:
- Hands Not Aligning with Digital Time: This can occur due to strong magnetic fields or impact. Perform a hand home position correction. Refer to the full user manual (Module No. 5146) for detailed steps on adjusting hand alignment.
- Digital Display is Blank or Dim: The battery may be low. Replace the battery as soon as possible.
- Buttons Are Stiff or Unresponsive: The watch may have accumulated dirt or debris around the buttons. Rinse the watch under fresh water while pressing the buttons to clear any obstructions. If the issue persists, seek professional service.
- Watch Stops or Time is Incorrect: This could indicate a low battery or a need for a full reset. If a new battery doesn't resolve the issue, a full reset (AC Reset) might be necessary. Consult an authorized service center for this procedure.
