This manual provides detailed instructions for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Dukane Micromatic II 28A81A 35mm Film Strip Projector with an integrated Cassette Player. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device to ensure proper function and safety.
Safety Precautions

Setup
1. Unpacking and Placement
Carefully remove the projector from its packaging. Place the unit on a stable, flat surface. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the projector.
2. Power Connection
Plug the power cord into a standard 120V AC grounded electrical outlet.
3. Height Adjustment
The projector features built-in adjustable risers. Rotate the knobs on the bottom of the unit to extend or retract the legs, allowing you to adjust the projection angle and height.
4. Loading a Film Strip
- Ensure the projector is turned off.
- Gently open the film gate mechanism.
- Insert the 35mm film strip into the designated slot, ensuring it is properly aligned with the sprockets.
- Close the film gate securely.

5. Loading a Cassette
- Press the EJECT button on the cassette player to open the cassette compartment.
- Insert a standard audio cassette with the open side facing the player head.
- Close the cassette compartment firmly until it clicks into place.
Operation
1. Powering On/Off
Locate the OFF-FAN-LAMP switch on the control panel. Move the switch to FAN to activate the cooling fan, then to LAMP to turn on the projection lamp.
2. Film Projection
- Focus Adjustment: Rotate the focus knob on the projection head until the image on the screen is clear and sharp.
- Film Advance: Use the ADV button or lever to advance the film strip frame by frame.
- Still Frame: The projector is designed to hold a still frame for extended viewing.
- Reverse: Use the REV button to move the film strip backward.
3. Cassette Playback
- Play: Press the PLAY button to start audio playback.
- Rewind (REW): Press the REW button to rewind the tape.
- Fast Forward (FF): Press the FF button to fast forward the tape.
- Pause: Press the PAUSE button to temporarily stop playback. Press again to resume.
- Volume Control: Adjust the VOLUME knob on the control panel to set the desired audio level.
4. Remote Control
If you have a compatible remote control, connect it to the REMOTE port on the control panel. The remote typically allows for film advance and reverse functions.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn marks, use a slightly damp cloth and mild detergent, then dry thoroughly.
- Lens: Use a lens brush or a soft, lint-free cloth specifically designed for optical lenses. Avoid abrasive materials.
- Film Gate: Periodically inspect and gently clean the film gate area to remove any dust or film debris that could scratch the film.
- Cassette Player Heads: Use a specialized cassette head cleaning kit to maintain optimal audio quality.
2. Lamp Replacement
When the projection lamp burns out, it will need to be replaced. Refer to the label on the bottom of the unit or consult Dukane's official documentation for the correct lamp type. Always unplug the unit and allow the lamp to cool completely before attempting replacement. The bottom of the unit, as shown in Figure 4, provides access to internal components and model information.

Troubleshooting
