Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the espresso machine and all accessories from the packaging. Retain packaging for future transport or storage.
  2. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the water tank, portafilter, and drip tray with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.
  3. Water Tank Filling: Remove the water tank and fill it with fresh, cold water up to the MAX line. Replace the tank securely in its position.
  4. Power Connection: Place the machine on a stable, level surface. Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
  5. Priming the System: Follow the instructions in the operating section to prime the machine by running hot water through the steam wand and coffee dispenser without coffee. This removes air from the system.

Operating Instructions

Making Espresso

  1. Prepare the Portafilter: Insert the appropriate filter basket (single or double shot) into the portafilter.
  2. Add Ground Coffee: Fill the filter basket with finely ground espresso coffee. For best results, use fresh, high-quality espresso grind.
  3. Tamp the Coffee: Use a tamper to press the coffee grounds firmly and evenly. Ensure the surface is level.
  4. Attach Portafilter: Securely attach the portafilter to the brew group by inserting it and rotating it to the right until it locks into place.
  5. Place Cup: Position one or two espresso cups under the coffee spouts.
  6. Brew Espresso: Select the desired espresso shot size (single or double) on the control panel. The machine will automatically brew and dispense the espresso.

Steaming Milk (Milk Frother)

  1. Prepare Milk: Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to just below the spout.
  2. Activate Steam: Turn the steam knob or press the steam button to activate the steam function. Wait for the steam light to indicate readiness.
  3. Froth Milk: Immerse the steam wand tip just below the surface of the milk. Open the steam valve slowly. Move the pitcher up and down to create foam. Once desired texture and temperature are reached, close the steam valve.
  4. Clean Steam Wand: Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue. Briefly open the steam valve again to clear any milk from inside the wand.

Maintenance

Daily Cleaning

  • Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray daily.
  • Portafilter & Filter Baskets: After each use, remove spent coffee grounds and rinse the portafilter and filter baskets under hot water.
  • Steam Wand: As mentioned in the operating section, clean the steam wand immediately after each use.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

Descaling

Descaling is crucial for maintaining your machine's performance and longevity. The frequency depends on water hardness and usage. Refer to the descaling indicator on your machine or descale every 2-3 months.

  1. Prepare Descaling Solution: Use a commercial descaling solution specifically designed for espresso machines, following the manufacturer's instructions for dilution.
  2. Fill Water Tank: Pour the descaling solution into the water tank.
  3. Run Descaling Cycle: Follow the machine's specific descaling program (refer to the control panel or quick start guide if available). This typically involves running the solution through the brew group and steam wand.
  4. Rinse: After the descaling cycle, rinse the water tank thoroughly and fill it with fresh water. Run several cycles of fresh water through the machine to remove any residual descaling solution.
