4. Assembly Instructions

Assembly typically takes approximately 30 minutes with two people. A socket wrench is recommended for faster and more secure tightening, though basic tools are included.

  1. Prepare the Base: Lay out the base pieces on a flat, stable surface such as grass, a patio, or a deck. Ensure the beveled side of the legs points inward.
  2. Connect Base Pieces: Insert the four bolts through the designated holes in the base pieces. Attach washers and nuts, but do not tighten completely at this stage. Keep the assembly loose to allow for alignment.
  3. Attach Arc Beams: Carefully position the two curved arc beams onto the base. The bolt holes should align. A rubber mallet may be used for gentle tapping to help align the bolts through the holes. Ensure the countersunk holes face outward.
  4. Secure Arc Beams: Insert the remaining bolts through the arc beams and attach washers and nuts. Again, do not fully tighten yet.
  5. Tighten All Connections: Once all bolts are in place, systematically tighten all nuts and bolts. Use two wrenches (or a socket wrench) to ensure a secure fit.
  6. Install Eye-bolts and Chains: Screw the two eye-bolts into the top ends of the curved arc beams. Attach the 20-inch chains and 3-inch carabiners to the eye-bolts.
  7. Attach Hammock: Connect your compatible spreader bar hammock (8-11 ft length) to the chains using the carabiners.

5. Operating Instructions

To ensure safe and enjoyable use of your hammock stand:

  • Placement: Always place the hammock stand on a flat, level surface to prevent tipping.
  • Hammock Compatibility: Use only spreader bar hammocks between 8 and 11 feet in length (from ring to ring). Using an incompatible hammock may result in instability or the hammock touching the ground.
  • Weight Limit: Do not exceed the maximum weight capacity of 400 lbs.
  • Entry and Exit: Enter and exit the hammock carefully to maintain stability. The wide-leg design helps reduce wobbling, but sudden movements should be avoided.
  • Clearance: Ensure there is adequate clear space around the hammock stand to prevent accidental bumps or falls.

6. Maintenance

To maximize the lifespan and appearance of your larch wood hammock stand:

  • Annual Sealing: Apply a fresh coat of outdoor wood sealant annually. This helps protect the wood from moisture and UV damage.
  • Winter Storage: During winter months or periods of prolonged inclement weather, store the stand under cover or indoors.
  • Cleaning: Clean the wood with a soft cloth and mild soap solution. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Hardware Check: Periodically inspect all bolts, nuts, chains, and carabiners for tightness and signs of wear. Tighten any loose connections.
