Setup

1. Attaching the Footstand

  1. Locate the dual-angle footstand.
  2. Align the tabs on the footstand with the slots on the back of the phone unit.
  3. Gently push until the footstand clicks into place. You can choose between a 46° or 28° angle by adjusting the attachment point.

2. Connecting the Handset

  1. Connect one end of the coiled handset cord to the port labeled "Handset" (4P4C) on the side of the phone.
  2. Connect the other end of the coiled cord to the port on the bottom of the handset.

3. Network and Power Connection

The Snom D710 supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) or an optional 5V DC adapter.

  1. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the "LAN" port (RJ45) on the back of the phone.
  2. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to your network switch or router. If your network supports PoE (802.3af Class 1), the phone will power on automatically.
  3. If PoE is not available, connect the optional 5V DC adapter (part number 3903) to the power port on the back of the phone and plug it into a power outlet.
  4. The phone will begin its boot sequence. The display will show the Snom logo and then proceed to load the firmware and configuration.

The Snom D710 features a four-line backlit B/W display for clear information display. Navigation is primarily done using the central navigation cluster:

  • Up/Down/Left/Right Arrows: Navigate through menus and lists.
  • Checkmark (✓) Button: Confirm selections or enter sub-menus.
  • X Button: Cancel an action, go back to the previous menu, or delete input.

Function Keys

The phone is equipped with context-sensitive function keys located directly below the display, and five freely programmable function keys with LEDs on the right side of the keypad.

  • Context-Sensitive Keys: Their function changes depending on the current screen or call state. The current function is displayed on the screen directly above the key.
  • Programmable Keys (with LEDs): These keys can be configured for various functions such as speed dial, busy lamp field (BLF), line appearance, or other custom features. The LEDs indicate the status of the assigned function (e.g., line in use, contact busy).

Basic Call Functions

  • Making a Call:
    1. Pick up the handset or press the Speaker button.
    2. Dial the desired number using the keypad.
    3. Press the "Dial" context-sensitive key or wait for the call to connect.
  • Answering a Call:
    1. When the phone rings, pick up the handset or press the Speaker button.
    2. Alternatively, press the "Answer" context-sensitive key.
  • Ending a Call: Hang up the handset or press the "End Call" context-sensitive key.
  • Hold: During a call, press the "Hold" button. Press it again to resume the call.
  • Mute: Press the "Mute" button to mute your microphone during a call. Press it again to unmute.
  • Volume: Use the Volume buttons below the keypad to adjust the handset, headset, or speakerphone volume during a call, or the ringer volume when idle.
  • Speakerphone: Press the "Speaker" button to toggle speakerphone mode on or off.
  • Headset: If a headset is connected, press the "Headset" button to switch audio to the headset.

Advanced Features

  • Caller ID: Displays the incoming caller's information on the screen.
  • 3-Way Conferencing: Initiate a three-party conference call. Consult your VoIP service provider's instructions for specific steps.
  • Music on Hold: When a call is placed on hold, music may be played to the caller, depending on your system configuration.
  • Multicast Paging: Allows broadcasting audio to multiple phones simultaneously.
  • XML Minibrowser: Supports custom applications and services via XML.
