Key Features:

  • Wired Connectivity: Connects via 3.5mm audio jack and USB for power (for LED lights).
  • Integrated Microphone: Flexible, noise-cancelling microphone for clear communication.
  • In-line Controls: Volume control and microphone mute switch on the cable.
  • Comfortable Design: Soft ear cushions and adjustable headband for extended wear.

5. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your KOTION G4000 Gaming Headset:

  1. Identify Cables: The headset has two 3.5mm audio jacks (one for audio, one for microphone) and one USB-A connector (for LED lighting). If your device has a single combined 3.5mm jack, use the included splitter cable.
  2. Connect Audio:
    • For PCs with separate audio and microphone ports: Plug the green 3.5mm jack into your computer's audio output port (headphone icon) and the red 3.5mm jack into the microphone input port (microphone icon).
    • For devices with a single combined 3.5mm jack (e.g., laptops, PS4 controllers, Xbox One controllers with adapter): Use the provided 3.5mm splitter cable. Plug both headset 3.5mm jacks into the splitter, then plug the splitter's single 3.5mm jack into your device.
  3. Connect USB (Optional): Plug the USB-A connector into any available USB port on your computer or gaming console. This connection is solely for powering the LED lights on the headset earcups. The headset will function for audio and microphone without the USB connected, but the lights will not illuminate.
  4. Adjust Settings: After connecting, you may need to adjust your device's audio settings to select the headset as the default playback and recording device.
    • Windows: Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar, select "Sound settings" or "Playback devices," and set the headset as default. Do the same for "Recording devices."
    • Mac: Go to System Preferences > Sound, and select the headset for both Input and Output.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Volume Control

The headset features an in-line volume control wheel located on the cable. Rotate the wheel up to increase volume and down to decrease volume.

6.2. Microphone Mute

Next to the volume wheel on the in-line control, there is a switch to mute or unmute the microphone. Slide the switch to the "OFF" position to mute the microphone and to the "ON" position to unmute it.

6.3. Microphone Positioning

The microphone boom is flexible. Adjust its position so that the microphone is close to your mouth for optimal voice clarity, typically about 1-2 inches away.

6.4. Headband Adjustment

The headband is adjustable. Gently slide the earcups up or down along the headband to find a comfortable fit that fully covers your ears.

7. Maintenance

Proper maintenance will extend the life of your headset:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to wipe down the earcups and headband. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water, but ensure no liquid enters the speaker grilles or microphone.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the headset in a clean, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid tangling the cable.
  • Cable Care: Do not pull on the cable to disconnect the headset. Always grasp the plug itself. Avoid sharp bends or kinks in the cable.
