- Use Correct Tool: Ensure the pliers are suitable for the task at hand. Do not use them for purposes other than gripping, clamping, or holding.
- Maintain Grip: Ensure a firm grip on the pliers and the workpiece to prevent slippage.
- Keep Clear: Keep hands and fingers clear of the jaws and locking mechanism to avoid pinching.
- Store Safely: Store tools in a dry, secure place, out of reach of children.

4. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to effectively use your YATO YT-2450 locking pliers:
- Adjust Jaw Opening: Turn the adjustment screw clockwise to decrease the jaw opening and increase clamping pressure, or counter-clockwise to increase the jaw opening and decrease pressure. Adjust until the jaws are slightly wider than the workpiece.
- Position Pliers: Place the jaws around the workpiece you intend to grip or clamp.
- Engage Locking Mechanism: Squeeze the handles together firmly. The pliers will lock into place, holding the workpiece securely. If the pliers do not lock, or if the grip is too loose/tight, release and readjust the screw.
- Release Pliers: To release the pliers, push the small lever located on one of the handles. This will disengage the locking mechanism and open the jaws.

5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe the pliers clean with a dry cloth to remove dirt, grease, or debris. For stubborn grime, use a mild cleaner and ensure the tool is thoroughly dried afterwards.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a light coat of machine oil to the pivot points and adjustment screw to ensure smooth operation and prevent rust.
- Storage: Store the pliers in a dry environment to prevent corrosion. Avoid storing in damp or humid conditions.
6. Troubleshooting
- Pliers not holding securely:
Solution: The adjustment screw may be set too loose. Turn the adjustment screw clockwise to tighten the jaw opening and increase clamping pressure until a secure grip is achieved.
- Pliers difficult to release:
Solution: The adjustment screw may be set too tight, or the mechanism might require lubrication. Try turning the adjustment screw slightly counter-clockwise to reduce pressure. If the issue persists, apply a small amount of lubricant to the pivot points and the release lever mechanism.
