4. Setup
Unpacking
Carefully remove the fixture from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage during transit. Retain the packaging for future transport or storage.
Mounting
The LMH230 is designed for floor mounting. Ensure the surface is stable, level, and capable of supporting the weight of the fixture. For overhead installations, always use appropriate clamps and safety cables (not included) and consult with a qualified installer.
Connections
- Power Connection: Connect the included power cord to the power input on the rear of the unit. Plug the other end into a suitable grounded power outlet.
- DMX Connection: For DMX control, connect a standard 3-pin DMX cable from your DMX controller's output to the DMX IN port on the LMH230. To daisy-chain multiple units, connect a DMX cable from the DMX OUT port of the first unit to the DMX IN port of the next unit.
5. Operating Modes
Control Panel Operation
The LED display and four buttons on the control panel allow you to navigate menus and select operating modes:
- MODE/ESC: Cycles through main menu options or exits the current menu/setting.
- UP: Increases values or moves up through menu options.
- DOWN: Decreases values or moves down through menu options.
- ENTER: Confirms selections or enters a submenu.
DMX Mode
In DMX mode, the fixture is controlled by an external DMX controller. Set the DMX address using the control panel. The LMH230 supports either 9 or 14 DMX channels. Refer to the full DMX channel chart in the comprehensive product manual for detailed control parameters.
Master/Slave Mode
Connect multiple LMH230 units via DMX cables. Set one unit as the 'Master' and the others as 'Slave' units. The Slave units will mirror the Master unit's movements and light output, allowing for synchronized effects without a DMX controller.
Sound Activated Mode
The fixture features a built-in microphone that allows it to react to ambient sound. In this mode, the light patterns and movements will synchronize with the beat of the music. Adjust sound sensitivity via the control panel if available.
Auto Show Mode
The LMH230 comes with pre-programmed light shows. Select 'Auto Show' mode via the control panel to cycle through these automated sequences.
6. Maintenance
Cleaning
Regular cleaning of the fixture's exterior and optical lenses is recommended to maintain optimal light output and performance. Use a soft, lint-free cloth. For stubborn dirt, a mild glass cleaner can be applied to the cloth, not directly to the fixture.
Storage
When not in use for extended periods, store the LMH230 in its original packaging or a protective case in a dry, dust-free environment away from extreme temperatures.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your LMH230, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- No Power: Ensure the power cord is securely connected to both the fixture and a working power outlet. Check the power switch on the unit.
- No Light Output: Verify the operating mode. If in DMX mode, check the DMX signal and address settings. Ensure the dimmer channel is not set to zero.
- Erratic Movement or No Movement: In DMX mode, check DMX cable connections and DMX signal integrity. Ensure the fixture's DMX address is correctly set and not conflicting. Try resetting the unit by power cycling.
- Fixture Overheating: Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit. Clear any obstructions from the cooling vents.
If problems persist after attempting these solutions, contact customer support.
