5. Setup Instructions
5.1. Charging the Battery
Before initial use, fully charge the integrated 7.4V 3000 mAh battery.
- Connect the 220V charging adapter to the DC input port on the side of the device.
- Plug the adapter into a standard wall outlet.
- The "CHARGE" indicator light on the front panel will illuminate.
- Allow the device to charge until the "CHARGE" indicator light changes color or turns off, indicating a full charge.
- Alternatively, use the 12V car charger adapter for charging in a vehicle.
5.2. Initial Power On
To power on the device:
- Locate the power switch on the side of the unit (refer to Figure 4.2).
- Toggle the switch to the "ON" position.
- The device display will light up, and the main menu will appear.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Satellite Dish Alignment
The primary function of the WS-6916 is to assist in aligning your satellite dish for optimal signal reception.
- Connect the LNB: Connect the LNB cable from your satellite dish to the F-connector input on the WS-6916 (refer to Figure 4.3).
- Select Satellite: From the main menu, navigate to "Satellite Find" or "Satellite Installation" and select the desired satellite you wish to receive (e.g., Astra 19.2E, Hotbird 13E).
- Input Coordinates (Optional): If using the angle calculation feature, input your geographical coordinates to determine the optimal elevation and azimuth for your LNB.
- Adjust Dish Position: Slowly adjust the azimuth (horizontal angle) and elevation (vertical angle) of your satellite dish. Observe the signal strength and quality indicators on the WS-6916 display.
- Optimize Signal: Continue fine-tuning the dish position until the signal strength and quality readings are maximized. The acoustic signal will also indicate stronger reception.
- Lock Signal: Once the signal is optimized, tighten your dish mounting bolts. The "LOCK" indicator light on the device will illuminate when a stable signal is acquired.
- Scan Channels: After successful alignment, you can perform a channel scan (blind scan, transponder scan, or full scan) to find available TV and radio channels.
6.2. Menu Navigation
Use the navigation buttons (up, down, left, right) and the "OK" button to move through menus and confirm selections. The "MENU" button typically returns to the previous menu or the main menu, and "EXIT" can be used to exit current operations.
6.3. Firmware Updates
The device supports firmware updates via its USB port.
- Download the latest firmware file from the official SATLINK support website to a USB flash drive.
- Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port on the WS-6916.
- Navigate to the "System Setting" or "Others" menu on the device.
- Select the "Firmware Upgrade" option and follow the on-screen prompts.
- Do not power off the device during the update process.
