1. Introduction
The TES 1160 is a versatile instrument designed for precise measurement of environmental conditions. It accurately measures temperature, relative humidity, atmospheric pressure, and pressure tendency. All measured values are clearly displayed on a three-line LCD. The meter also features adjustable alarm levels for each measured quantity, indicated by a blinking display and an audible alert, as well as maximum and minimum memory functions.
2. Package Contents
Verify that all items are present and in good condition upon opening the package:
- TES 1160 Meter
- Instruction Manual
- 9V Battery (006P, IEC6F22, or NEDA 1604 type)

4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the meter.
- Carefully slide or unclip the cover to open the compartment.
- Insert one 9V battery (006P, IEC6F22, or NEDA 1604 type), ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Replace the battery compartment cover, ensuring it is securely closed.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off
- To power on the device, press the POWER button (usually marked with an ⓘ symbol).
- To power off, press and hold the POWER button until the display turns off.
5.2 Display Functions
The triple LCD simultaneously displays:
- Barometric pressure
- Temperature
- Relative humidity
Additional readings available include:
- Dew point and Wet bulb temperature
- Absolute humidity, Mixing ratio, and Enthalpy
- Water vapor pressure and Water saturation pressure
- Pressure trend and tendency (P3h)
5.3 Unit Selection
Press the UNIT button to cycle through available measurement units for temperature (℃/℉) and pressure (hPa).
5.4 Memory Functions (MAX/MIN)
- Press the HOLD MX/MN button to view the maximum (MX) or minimum (MN) recorded values for each parameter.
- Press again to cycle through MAX, MIN, and current readings.
5.5 Alarm Settings
The meter allows setting two adjustable alarm levels for temperature, humidity, air pressure, and dew point temperature. When a measured value exceeds or falls below these levels, the corresponding value on the display will blink, and an audible alarm will sound (if enabled).
- Refer to the detailed instructions in the included manual for specific steps on setting and enabling/disabling alarm thresholds.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
- Wipe the meter's exterior with a soft, dry cloth.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the casing or display.
- Keep the sensor probe clean and free from dust or debris for accurate readings.
6.2 Battery Replacement
When the battery indicator on the LCD shows low power, replace the 9V battery following the steps outlined in the Battery Installation section (4.1). A typical battery life is approximately 2 months (60 days).
7. Troubleshooting
- Meter does not power on: Ensure the 9V battery is correctly installed with proper polarity and is not depleted. Replace the battery if necessary.
- Inaccurate readings: Ensure the sensor probe is clean and unobstructed. Allow the meter to stabilize in the measurement environment for a few minutes. Extreme temperature changes can affect readings temporarily.
- Dew point/Frost point issues below freezing: Some users have reported that dew point and frost point readings may become inconsistent or 'stuck' at 32℉ (0℃) when ambient air temperature drops below freezing. This behavior may be a characteristic of the device's sensor limitations in very cold conditions. Consult the manufacturer's support for further clarification if this persists.
- Audible beep cannot be turned off: The device may not offer an option to disable the audible feedback for button presses. This is a design characteristic.
