3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove the subwoofer from its packaging. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage that may have occurred during transit. Retain the original packaging for future transport or storage.

3.2 Physical Placement

Position the subwoofer on a firm, level surface. For optimal bass response, consider placing the subwoofer in a corner or near a wall. Ensure there is sufficient space around the unit for proper ventilation, especially around the rear panel where the amplifier and cooling fan are located.

3.3 Connections

Before making any connections, ensure the subwoofer's power switch is in the OFF position and the volume control is set to minimum.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Controls and Indicators

4.2 Basic Operation

  1. Ensure all connections are secure and correct.
  2. Set the subwoofer's Volume control to its minimum position.
  3. Turn on your audio source and any connected full-range speakers.
  4. Flip the Power switch on the DRX-18BA to the ON position. The Power indicator should illuminate.
  5. Gradually increase the Volume control on the subwoofer until the desired bass level is achieved.
  6. Monitor the Clip indicator. If it flashes excessively, reduce the input signal level or the subwoofer's volume.
  7. Adjust the Phase switch to find the setting that provides the most coherent and impactful bass response in your listening environment.
  8. When finished, turn off the subwoofer first, then your full-range speakers and audio source.

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable operation of your subwoofer.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your DRX-18BA subwoofer, refer to the following common problems and solutions.
