2. Connecting a V-Mount Battery

Attach a compatible Sony Standard V-mount battery (e.g., BP-L60A, BP-L90A) or a replacement V-mount battery to the V-mount battery plate. Ensure the battery clicks into place, indicating a secure connection. The plate is designed to work with and charge these types of batteries.

3. Connecting AC Power

To use AC power or charge the V-mount battery, connect the provided AC power adapter to the designated AC power input slot on the DP500 plate. Plug the adapter into a standard wall outlet. The device features intelligent power management (PMIC) to ensure continuous power supply and seamless transitions between AC and V-mount battery power without interruption.

4. Understanding Output Ports

The DP500 offers multiple output ports to power various devices:

  • 8V Output: For cameras/camcorders requiring 7V-9V.
  • 14.8V Output: For large-scale camcorders with 12V-16.8V wide voltage input.
  • 12V Port: For monitors and other devices requiring 12V input.
  • 5V USB Output: For charging mobile devices or powering 5V accessories.

Note: If using a dummy battery for cameras like GH4/GH5, ensure it is a decoded version for proper functionality.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your FOTGA DP500 V-Mount Battery Plate & Charger, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for extended periods, ensure the V-mount battery is partially charged (around 50%) to preserve battery health.
  • Cable Management: Keep all cables organized and free from kinks or excessive bending to prevent damage.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect all ports, connections, and the V-mount mechanism for any signs of wear or damage.

Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with the FOTGA DP500.

1. Device Not Powering On

  • Check Battery: Ensure the V-mount battery is securely attached and sufficiently charged.
  • Check AC Connection: If using AC power, verify the adapter is correctly plugged into both the DP500 and a working power outlet.
  • Power Switch: Confirm the power on/off switch is in the 'on' position.

2. V-Mount Battery Not Charging

  • AC Power Connection: Charging only occurs when the AC power adapter is connected and supplying power.
  • Battery Compatibility: Ensure your V-mount battery is compatible with Sony Standard BP batteries.
  • Power Switch: Some users have reported that the DP500's power switch needs to be OFF for the V-mount battery to charge. Try turning the unit off before charging.

3. Connected Device Not Receiving Power

  • Output Voltage: Verify that the connected device requires the voltage supplied by the chosen output port (8V, 12V, 14.8V, 5V USB).
  • Cable Connection: Ensure all DC cables are securely connected to both the DP500 and the accessory.
  • Dummy Battery: If using a dummy battery for a camera, confirm it is a decoded version.

4. RF Noise/Audio Interference

  • If experiencing audio interference when powering both a camera and an audio recorder, try powering the audio recorder from a separate, isolated power source to determine if the DP500 is the cause.
  • Ensure all cables are properly shielded and routed away from sensitive audio equipment.

5. V-Mount Battery Fit Issues

  • Some V-mount batteries may fit very tightly or loosely. Ensure the battery is fully engaged with the plate's latch/release mechanism.
  • Verify the battery's mounting mechanism is standard and not proprietary.
