Setup

Loading Lead

  1. Remove the Push Button: Gently pull the push button (top cap) off the end of the pencil. This will expose the lead reservoir.
  2. Insert Lead: Insert 2-3 pieces of 0.7mm Pentel Super Hi-Polymer HB lead into the open tube. Do not overfill, as this can cause jamming.
  3. Replace Push Button: Firmly push the push button back onto the pencil until it clicks into place.
  4. Advance Lead: Press the push button repeatedly until the lead extends from the tip to your desired length.

Replacing the Eraser

  1. Remove the Push Button: As with loading lead, pull off the push button.
  2. Remove Old Eraser: Carefully pull out the used eraser from its holder.
  3. Insert New Eraser: Insert a new Pentel Z2-1N refill eraser into the holder. Ensure it is seated firmly.
  4. Replace Push Button: Push the push button back onto the pencil.

Operating Instructions

  • Advancing Lead: To advance the lead, simply press the push button at the top of the pencil. Each press will extend the lead by a small increment.
  • Retracting Lead: To retract the lead, press and hold the push button, then gently push the lead back into the tip with your finger or against a surface. Release the button once the lead is retracted.
  • Erasing: Remove the push button to access the eraser. Use the eraser for precise corrections. Replace the push button after use.
  • Drafting and Drawing: The 4mm fixed sleeve tip is ideal for technical drawing and use with straightedges, templates, and stencils, providing stability and clear line visibility.

Maintenance

  • Lead Replacement: Always use high-quality 0.7mm lead, such as Pentel Super Hi-Polymer HB lead, to prevent breakage and ensure smooth operation.
  • Eraser Replacement: Replace the eraser when it becomes worn down to maintain effective erasing. Use only genuine Pentel Z2-1N refill erasers.
  • Cleaning the Tip: If lead dust accumulates in the tip, gently tap the pencil on a hard surface with the tip facing down to dislodge debris. Avoid using sharp objects to clean the tip, as this may damage the mechanism.
  • Storage: Store your mechanical pencil in a clean, dry place away from extreme temperatures to prevent damage to the lead and internal components.
