Maintenance

Cleaning

The stainless steel probe can be wiped clean. The main unit and transmitter should be wiped with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit or transmitter in water. The probe and wire are oven safe up to 716°F (380°C).

Battery Replacement

Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Use 4 AAA batteries.

Storage

Store the thermometer in a dry place when not in use. Avoid kinking the probe wire to prolong its lifespan.

Troubleshooting

  • No Signal/Synchronization Issues: Ensure both units are powered on and within range. Try turning the receiver off, then activate the base's flashing mode (usually a side button), and turn the receiver back on within 30 seconds to re-sync.
  • Inaccurate Readings: Perform an ice bath test (should read close to 32°F/0°C) and a boiling water test (should read close to 212°F/100°C at sea level) to check probe accuracy. If readings are consistently off, the probe may need replacement.
  • Slow Temperature Updates: The unit updates the remote with the current temperature approximately every 10-11 seconds. This is normal operation and not a defect.
  • Short Battery Life: Ensure both units are turned off completely when not in use. If the base unit's light is blinking, it is still transmitting and consuming power.
