Product Components

Your Taylor Wireless Digital Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer system includes two primary components:

  1. Main Display Unit: This unit features a large LCD screen that displays both indoor and outdoor temperatures, time, and min/max temperature records. It is designed for indoor use.
  2. Wireless Remote Sensor: This compact sensor is designed to be placed outdoors or in another remote location to measure temperature and transmit it wirelessly to the main display unit.

Setup Guide

1. Battery Installation:

Both the main display unit and the wireless remote sensor require batteries (not included). Ensure you use the correct battery type and polarity as indicated.

  • Main Display Unit: Requires 2 x AAA batteries.
  • Wireless Remote Sensor: Requires 2 x AAA batteries. For optimal performance in cold climates (below -4°F / -20°C), lithium batteries are recommended for the remote sensor.

Operating Instructions

Reading the Display:

The main display unit features a clear LCD screen. The larger digits typically show the primary temperature (either indoor or outdoor, depending on selection), while the smaller digits show the secondary temperature and the current time.

Switching Temperature Units (°F/°C):

To switch between Fahrenheit (°F) and Celsius (°C), locate the F/C button, usually on the back or side of the main display unit, and press it.

Daily Min/Max Temperature Recall:

The thermometer tracks daily minimum and maximum temperatures. To view these records, press the 'MEM' or 'MIN/MAX' button on the main unit. Pressing it repeatedly will cycle through the minimum and maximum readings for both indoor and outdoor temperatures.

Setting the Time:

To set the time, refer to the specific instructions in the full user manual (link provided in the Support section). Typically, this involves holding down a 'SET' button and using adjustment buttons to change hours and minutes.

Placement Guidelines

Main Display Unit:

  • Place the main unit indoors, away from direct sunlight, heat sources (like vents or appliances), or drafts, as these can affect indoor temperature accuracy.
  • The unit has a built-in kickstand for tabletop placement or can be wall-mounted.

Wireless Remote Sensor:

  • For accurate outdoor readings, place the remote sensor in a shaded area, protected from direct sunlight and precipitation.
  • Avoid placing it near heat-emitting devices or surfaces that absorb and radiate heat (e.g., asphalt, concrete walls).
  • Ensure the sensor is within the 200 ft. wireless range of the main unit.

Maintenance

Cleaning:

Wipe both units with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the units in water.

Battery Replacement:

Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Always replace all batteries in a unit at the same time with new ones of the same type.

Troubleshooting

No Outdoor Reading / Intermittent Signal:

  • Check Batteries: Ensure batteries in both units are fresh and correctly installed.
  • Relocate Sensor: Move the remote sensor closer to the main unit, ensuring it's within the 200 ft. range and free from obstructions (thick walls, large metal objects).
  • Interference: Keep units away from electronic devices that may cause interference (e.g., TVs, microwaves, computers).
  • Reset: Remove batteries from both units, wait a few minutes, then reinsert them, starting with the remote sensor, then the main unit.

Inaccurate Readings:

  • Proper Placement: Ensure both units are placed according to the guidelines (away from direct sunlight, heat sources, or drafts).
  • Battery Strength: Weak batteries can affect accuracy. Replace them if needed.
  • Calibration: This model is factory calibrated. If persistent inaccuracies occur, contact customer support.
