Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for setting up, operating, and maintaining your WAVLINK USB 3.0 Dual-Bay External Hard Drive Docking Station. This device is designed for convenient access to 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA I/II/III HDDs and SSDs, offering high-speed data transfer and offline cloning capabilities.
Setup
Follow these steps to set up your docking station:
- Connect Power: Connect the provided 12V/3A power adapter to the DC 12V Power Port on the back of the docking station. Plug the adapter into a power outlet.
- Insert Drives: Ensure the docking station is powered off. Insert your 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA HDD/SSD into the drive bays. The drive connectors should align with the SATA ports inside the bays. For offline cloning, insert the source disk into Bay A (Source) and the target disk into Bay B (Target). Ensure the target disk's capacity is equal to or larger than the source disk's capacity.
- Connect to Computer (Optional for Data Transfer): If you intend to use the docking station for data transfer with a computer, connect the USB 3.0 Type-B port on the docking station to your computer's USB port using the provided USB A cable or USB A to C adapter.
- Power On: Turn on the 'ON/OFF' switch located on the back of the docking station. The power indicator light on the front will illuminate.

Operating Modes
1. Data Transfer Mode (PC Connection)
When connected to a computer, the docking station functions as an external hard drive enclosure, allowing you to access data on the inserted drives. No drivers are required for the disk dock itself as it uses the standard USB Mass Storage class.
- Supported Operating Systems: Windows 11, 10, 7, 8.1, 8, XP, Mac OS X, Linux / Unix, ChromeOS, Android.
- Transfer Speed: Supports transfer speeds up to 6Gbps by UASP transfer protocol, which is up to 20% faster than USB 3.0. Speeds up to 5Gbps (USB 3.0), 480Mbps (USB 2.0), 12Mbps (USB 1.1).
- Hot-Swapping: Supports hot-swapping, allowing you to insert or remove drives while the device is powered on and connected to a computer.

2. Offline Clone Function
The offline clone function allows you to duplicate data from a source disk to a target disk without connecting to a computer. This is ideal for data backup or upgrading drives.
- Prepare Disks: Ensure the docking station is powered off. Insert the source disk into Bay A (Source) and the target disk into Bay B (Target).
- Capacity Requirement: The capacity of the target disk must be equal to or larger than the source disk's capacity.
- Disconnect USB: Make sure the USB cable is disconnected from your computer before initiating the cloning process.
- Power On: Turn on the 'ON/OFF' switch. The power indicator will light up, and the Source and Target HDD lights should be solid blue.
- Start Cloning: Press and hold the OTB (One-Touch Backup) button for approximately 3 seconds until the percentage lights (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) on the bottom half of the ring begin to flash. Release the button. While the lights are still flashing, short-click the OTB button once more to start the cloning process.
- Monitor Progress: The percentage lights will illuminate sequentially to indicate the cloning progress (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%). The Source and Target HDD lights will remain solid blue during the process.
- Completion: When all four percentage lights turn solid blue, the cloning process is completed.
- Power Off: Turn off the 'ON/OFF' switch and safely remove the drives.

Maintenance
- Automatic Sleep Mode: The docking station features an automatic sleep mode after 30 minutes of inactivity to save energy.
- Safe Removal: Always ensure the unit is powered down before physically pulling out drives, especially after cloning, to prevent data corruption.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the docking station. Avoid using liquid cleaners.
Troubleshooting
- Drive Not Recognized:
- Ensure the drive is properly seated in the bay.
- Verify the power adapter is connected and the unit is powered on.
- If connected to a computer, try a different USB port or cable.
- Check Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (Mac) to see if the drive is detected but unformatted or unallocated.
- Cloning Process Fails or Doesn't Start:
- Ensure the USB cable is disconnected from the computer. Offline cloning requires no PC connection.
- Verify the target disk's capacity is equal to or larger than the source disk's capacity.
- Ensure both drives are properly inserted and detected by the docking station (solid blue Source/Target lights).
- Follow the exact button press sequence: press and hold for 3 seconds until lights flash, then short-click once more.
- Slow Transfer Speeds:
- Ensure you are using a USB 3.0 port on your computer and the provided USB 3.0 cable.
- Verify your operating system supports UASP for optimal performance.
- The speed of the hard drive itself can be a limiting factor.
