Setup

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all items from the storage box and verify against the "Package Contents" list.
  2. Select Nozzle/Needle: Choose the appropriate nozzle and needle size (0.2mm, 0.3mm, or 0.5mm) for your desired spray pattern. The 0.2mm is pre-installed. To change, use the provided nozzle wrench to carefully unscrew the existing nozzle, replace the needle, and then screw in the new nozzle.
  3. Attach Paint Cup: Select one of the three gravity-feed paint cups (2ml, 5ml, or 13ml) and securely attach it to the top of the airbrush.
  4. Connect Air Hose: Connect one end of the 1.80m air hose to the air inlet on the bottom of the airbrush handle. Connect the other end to your air compressor. Ensure a secure, leak-free connection.
  5. Prepare Workspace: Ensure your workspace is well-ventilated and adequately lit. Protect surrounding areas from overspray.

Operating Instructions

The FE-186K features a double-action trigger for precise control over both air and paint flow.

  1. Paint Preparation: Dilute your paint to the appropriate consistency for airbrushing. Most airbrush-ready paints have a milk-like consistency. Use the 15ml dropper for accurate measurement and mixing.
  2. Fill Paint Cup: Carefully pour the prepared paint into the attached paint cup. Do not overfill.
  3. Adjust Air Pressure: Set your air compressor to the recommended pressure of 1.4 to 2 bars (approximately 20-30 PSI). The airbrush features a micro air control button for finer adjustments directly on the tool.
  4. Initiate Air Flow: Press down on the trigger to release air.
  5. Control Paint Flow: While holding the trigger down, pull it back to release paint. The further back you pull, the more paint will be released.
  6. Spraying Technique:
    • Maintain a consistent distance from your surface.
    • Move your hand smoothly and evenly to avoid paint buildup.
    • Practice on scrap material to get a feel for the airbrush's response.
    • The adjustable handle allows for more precise control of the tool and air flow.
  7. Stopping: Release the trigger forward to stop paint flow, then release upward to stop air flow.

Maintenance

Proper cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and performance of your airbrush.

  1. Immediate Cleaning: After each use, especially when changing colors or finishing a session, immediately clean the airbrush.
    • Empty any remaining paint from the cup.
    • Add a small amount of appropriate cleaner (water for acrylics, solvent for enamels/lacquers) to the cup.
    • Spray the cleaner through the airbrush until it runs clear.
    • Use a soft brush or cotton swab to clean the inside of the paint cup.
  2. Disassembly for Deep Cleaning: The airbrush is designed for simple disassembly for cleaning and repair.
    • Carefully remove the needle from the back of the airbrush.
    • Unscrew the nozzle cap and then the nozzle itself using the provided wrench.
    • Clean all components with the appropriate cleaner. Use specialized airbrush cleaning brushes for small passages.
    • Inspect the needle and nozzle for any damage or dried paint.
  3. Reassembly: Reassemble the airbrush carefully, ensuring all parts are clean and properly aligned. Do not overtighten the nozzle.
  4. Lubrication: Occasionally apply a tiny drop of airbrush-specific lubricant to the needle packing and trigger mechanism to ensure smooth operation.
  5. Storage: Store the clean and dry airbrush in its plastic storage box to protect it from dust and damage.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No paint flowClogged nozzle/needle, paint too thick, air pressure too low, trigger not pulled back enough.Clean nozzle/needle, thin paint, increase air pressure, pull trigger further back.

Air bubbles in paint cupLoose nozzle, damaged nozzle, dried paint around nozzle.Tighten nozzle, inspect and replace damaged nozzle, clean thoroughly.
Air leaksLoose connections, damaged O-rings/seals.Check all connections (hose, nozzle), inspect and replace O-rings.
