Important Safeguards
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
- Unplug from outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning.
- Avoid contact with moving parts. Keep hands, hair, and clothing, as well as spatulas and other utensils, away from beaters during operation to prevent injury and/or damage to the mixer.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or electrical or mechanical adjustment.
- The use of attachments not recommended or sold by KitchenAid may cause fire, electric shock, or injury.

Getting Started (Setup)
Before first use, ensure all packaging materials are removed and clean the attachments as described in the "Care and Cleaning" section.
Attaching Accessories
- Ensure the hand mixer is unplugged and the speed control is set to "O" (Off).
- Insert the desired attachments (beaters, whisk, dough hooks, or liquid blender rod) into the openings on the underside of the mixer. Push firmly and rotate slightly until they click into place. The attachments are designed to fit only one way.

Troubleshooting
If your hand mixer experiences issues, consult the following table for common problems and solutions.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Mixer does not turn on. | Not plugged in; power outlet not working; speed control not set. | Ensure mixer is securely plugged into a working outlet. Check that the speed control is set to a speed other than "O" (Off). |
| Attachments are difficult to insert or remove. | Attachments not aligned correctly; food residue in openings. | Ensure attachments are aligned with the correct openings. Clean any residue from the openings. Ensure mixer is unplugged before inserting/removing. |
| Mixer splatters ingredients. | Speed setting too high for initial mixing; bowl too full. | Utilize the Soft Start™ feature by starting at a lower speed (1-2) and gradually increasing. Reduce the amount of ingredients in the bowl. |
| Mixer seems to struggle with heavy mixtures. | Mixture is too thick; incorrect attachment used. | Ensure you are using the appropriate attachment (e.g., Turbo Beaters or Dough Hooks for heavy mixtures). If the mixture is extremely thick, consider adding a small amount of liquid or processing in smaller batches. The powerful DC Motor is designed to handle resistance. |
