7. Battery Compatibility

The OPUS BT-C3100 V2.2 is compatible with a wide range of rechargeable battery chemistries and sizes.

7.1 Supported Battery Types and Voltages

The charger supports Ni-MH, Ni-Cd, and various Li-ion battery types. For specific Li-ion chemistries (Li-FeO4, high voltage Li-ion), a switch on the board allows selection of different charging termination voltages (3.7V, 4.2V, 4.35V).

7.2 Supported Battery Sizes

The charger is designed for common battery sizes, including AA (LR6) and AAA (LR3) for NiCd/NiMh, and various 3.7V Li-ion sizes such as 10440, 14500, 16340, 17335, 17500, 18490, 17670, 18650, 26650.

8. Charging Guidelines

8.1 Current Selection

The charger allows manual selection of charging and discharging currents. For optimal battery life and safety, it is generally recommended to use lower currents for smaller batteries and higher currents for larger capacity batteries. Note that 1500mA and 2000mA charging currents are only available when using a single battery in slot 1 or slot 4.

8.2 Heat Management

During charging and discharging, especially at higher currents, batteries and the charger may generate heat. The BT-C3100 V2.2 is equipped with a cooling fan that activates when the internal temperature or battery temperature exceeds 40°C (104°F). If the battery temperature is sensed to be over 60°C (140°F), the over-heat protection will activate, halting the current working mode for all 4 slots by reducing the charging current to 0mA. Operation will resume once the battery temperature drops below 40°C. Ensure adequate ventilation around the charger during operation.
