1.2 Product Overview
The Profoon PDX-8420 system includes two cordless handsets and their respective charging bases, designed for clear communication and ease of use. Each handset features a backlit display, a full keypad, and dedicated function buttons.

2. Safety Information
Please observe the following safety precautions to prevent damage to the product or injury to yourself.
- Use only the supplied power adapters and batteries.
- Do not expose the phones to water or excessive humidity.
- Avoid placing the base station near heat sources or direct sunlight.
- Do not attempt to open or repair the device yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
- Keep out of reach of children.
3. Setup
3.1 Connecting the Base Station
- Connect one end of the telephone line cord to the LINE port on the back of the base station.
- Connect the other end of the telephone line cord to your telephone wall socket.
- Connect the small end of the power adapter to the DC IN port on the base station.
- Plug the power adapter into a wall outlet.
3.2 Installing and Charging Batteries
- Open the battery compartment cover on the back of each handset.
- Insert the supplied AAA rechargeable batteries, observing the correct polarity (+ and -).
- Close the battery compartment cover.
- Place each handset on its respective base station. The charging indicator on the handset display should illuminate.
- Allow the handsets to charge for at least 16 hours before first use to ensure full battery capacity.
3.3 Initial Settings (Date and Time)
After the initial charge, you may need to set the date and time. Refer to the 'Operating' section for menu navigation instructions.
4. Operating Your Phone
4.1 Basic Call Functions
- Making a Call: Press the Call button, then dial the number. Alternatively, dial the number first, then press Call.
- Receiving a Call: When the phone rings, press the Call button.
- Ending a Call: Press the End Call button or place the handset back on the base.
- Adjusting Volume: During a call, use the navigation buttons (up/down) to adjust the earpiece volume.

4.2 Phonebook
Your phone can store frequently called numbers in its phonebook.
- Adding a Contact: Navigate to the Phonebook menu, select 'Add New Entry', enter the name and number, then save.
- Calling from Phonebook: Press the Phonebook button, scroll to the desired contact, and press Call.
4.3 Caller ID
If you subscribe to Caller ID service, the caller's number (and name, if available) will be displayed before you answer the call. You can review a list of recent calls in the Caller ID log.
4.4 Intercom and Conference Calls
- Intercom: To call another handset registered to the same base, press the Intercom button (often a dedicated button or accessed via menu), then select the desired handset.
- Conference Call: While on an external call, you can initiate a 3-way conference call with another internal handset. Consult the menu options for 'Conference' or 'Join Call'.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
Wipe the phone and base station with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the device is unplugged before cleaning.
5.2 Battery Care
- Always use the supplied rechargeable batteries.
- If the phone will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
- Replace batteries when their performance significantly degrades.
