Setup
Battery Installation/Activation
The Taylor 1476 thermometer comes with a pre-installed LR44 battery. Before first use, you must remove the insulation tab to activate the thermometer.
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the unit.
- Carefully remove the small plastic insulation tab protruding from the battery compartment.
- Ensure the battery is seated correctly.

Operating Instructions
Turning On/Off
- To turn the thermometer ON, simply unfold the probe from its stored position. The display will illuminate.
- Alternatively, press the ON/OFF button located on the back of the unit.
- To turn the thermometer OFF, fold the probe back into its stored position. The display will turn off.
- Alternatively, press and hold the ON/OFF button for a few seconds. The thermometer will also automatically shut off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery life.
Selecting Temperature Unit (°C/°F)
- To switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F), press the C/F button located on the back of the unit.
Taking a Temperature Reading
- Unfold the probe to turn on the thermometer.
- Insert the stainless steel probe into the thickest part of the food, avoiding bone or gristle.
- Wait for the temperature reading on the LCD display to stabilize. This usually takes a few seconds.
- Once the desired temperature is reached, remove the probe from the food.
- Fold the probe back into the unit to turn off the thermometer and store it.
Important Safety Note:
- Digital thermometers are NOT meant to be left in food during cooking in an oven or grill. The plastic and electronic components can be damaged by excessive heat.
- The thermometer probe will be hot after use. Use oven mitts or potholders when handling the hot probe.

Maintenance and Care
Cleaning Instructions
- Always clean the stainless steel probe after each use.
- Wipe the probe with a damp cloth and mild detergent.
- Do NOT immerse the entire thermometer in water or place it in a dishwasher. The electronic components are not waterproof.
- Dry the probe thoroughly before storing.
Storage
- Store the thermometer with the probe folded into the unit to protect it.
- Utilize the built-in carrying hole for convenient hanging storage if desired.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from extreme temperatures.

Troubleshooting
