5. Operating Instructions

Understand the features and controls of your band saw for efficient and safe operation.

  • Power Switch: Locate the main power switch for turning the saw on and off.
  • Speed Selection: The saw operates at two speeds: 1520 FPM (Feet Per Minute) and 2620 FPM. Select the appropriate speed for your material. Lower speeds are generally for harder materials or intricate cuts, while higher speeds are for softer woods and faster cutting.
  • Work Table Adjustment: The work table can be swiveled up to 45 degrees for angled cuts. Loosen the locking mechanism, adjust to the desired angle, and re-tighten securely.
  • Using the Fence: For straight cuts, position the fence parallel to the blade and lock it in place.
  • Using the Miter Gauge: For precise angled cross-cuts, use the miter gauge. Adjust it to the desired angle and guide the workpiece against it.
  • Cutting Procedure:
    1. Ensure the workpiece is free of nails, screws, or other foreign objects.
    2. Adjust the blade guide assembly so it is approximately 1/8 inch above the workpiece.
    3. Turn on the saw and allow the blade to reach full speed before beginning the cut.
    4. Feed the workpiece slowly and steadily into the blade. Do not force the material.
    5. Keep hands clear of the blade path. Use a push stick for smaller pieces.

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean sawdust and debris from the work table, blade guides, and internal components. Use a vacuum or compressed air.
  • Lubrication: Periodically lubricate moving parts as specified in the full product manual (not provided here).
  • Blade Tension: Check blade tension before each use. Proper tension prevents blade breakage and ensures accurate cuts.
  • Blade Guides and Bearings: Inspect blade guides and thrust bearings for wear and proper adjustment. Replace worn components as needed.
  • Table Waxing: Apply paste wax to the cast iron table to reduce friction and prevent rust.
