1. Introduction

The LogTag UTRIX-16 is a high-performance, multi-use temperature data logger designed for reliable and accurate monitoring across a wide range of applications. Its integrated USB connector allows for easy data transfer and configuration.

2. Safety Information

  • ALERT Indicator: Flashes when a pre-configured temperature alert threshold has been exceeded.
  • OK Indicator: Flashes to confirm normal operation and within-range temperature readings.
  • STOP Button: Press to stop the current logging session.
  • START/Mark Button: Press to start a new logging session or to insert a mark into the data stream during logging.
  • Integrated USB Connector: Located at the bottom, used for connecting to a computer for configuration and data download.

5. Setup

5.1 Initial Configuration

The UTRIX-16 is typically pre-configured for immediate use. However, for custom settings (e.g., logging interval, alert thresholds, start delay), you will need to use the LogTag Analyzer software. This software is available for download from the official LogTag website.

  1. Download and install the LogTag Analyzer software from LogTag Recorders Software.
  2. Connect the UTRIX-16 to a USB port on your computer.

  4. The LogTag Analyzer software should automatically detect the connected device.
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts within the software to configure logging parameters as needed.

5.2 Battery Information

The UTRIX-16 uses a CR2 battery (included). The battery is designed for long life and is generally not user-replaceable without specialized tools. If battery replacement is required, it is recommended to contact LogTag support or an authorized service center.

6. Operation

6.1 Starting a Logging Session

To start a new logging session:

  1. Ensure the device is not currently logging (check the OK/ALERT indicators).
  2. Press and hold the START/Mark button for approximately 5 seconds until the OK indicator flashes rapidly.
  3. Release the button. The OK indicator will flash at regular intervals, indicating that logging has started.

6.2 Stopping a Logging Session

To stop an active logging session:

  1. Press and hold the STOP button for approximately 5 seconds until the ALERT indicator flashes rapidly.
  2. Release the button. The device will cease logging.

6.3 Marking Data

During an active logging session, you can insert a mark into the data stream:

  • Briefly press the START/Mark button (less than 2 seconds).
  • A mark will be recorded in the data, visible when the data is downloaded and analyzed.

7. Data Retrieval and Reporting

The UTRIX-16 generates a PDF report directly when connected to a computer.

  1. Connect the UTRIX-16 to a USB port on your computer.
  2. The device will appear as a removable drive.
  3. Locate and open the generated PDF report file. This report contains a summary of the logging session, temperature graphs, and statistical data.
  4. For advanced analysis and configuration, use the LogTag Analyzer software.

8. Maintenance

8.1 Cleaning

Wipe the device clean with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

8.2 Battery Replacement

The battery in the UTRIX-16 is designed for extended use and is not intended for user replacement. If the battery life is depleted, contact LogTag support for service options.

9. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Device does not start logging. Incorrect button press duration; device already logging; battery depleted. Ensure the START/Mark button is held for approximately 5 seconds. Check if the device is already logging. Connect to LogTag Analyzer to check battery status.
Computer does not recognize the device. Loose USB connection; faulty USB port; driver issue. Ensure the USB connector is fully inserted. Try a different USB port. Reinstall LogTag Analyzer software.
No PDF report generated. Logging session not completed; device not recognized as a drive. Ensure the logging session has been stopped. Verify the device appears as a removable drive.
ALERT indicator flashing. Temperature exceeded pre-set limits. This indicates an alert condition. Review the PDF report or LogTag Analyzer data to identify when and for how long the limits were exceeded.
