3.2 Connecting the Receiver

  1. Power Connection: Connect the supplied power supply to the BLX4 receiver's power input and then to an AC power source.
  2. Audio Output: Connect the receiver's XLR or 1/4-inch output to your mixer or amplifier's input. Use the XLR output for microphone-level signals and the 1/4-inch output for instrument-level signals.
  3. Antennas: Ensure the antennas are securely attached to the receiver and positioned for optimal signal reception.

3.3 Pairing with a Transmitter

The BLX4 receiver must be paired with a compatible Shure BLX series transmitter (BLX1 bodypack or BLX2 handheld). Both the receiver and transmitter must be set to the same group and channel for proper operation.

  1. Power On: Turn on the BLX4 receiver and the BLX transmitter.
  2. QuickScan: On the BLX4 receiver, press the 'Group' button. The receiver will automatically scan for the clearest available frequency and display the selected group and channel.
  3. Set Transmitter: Manually set your BLX transmitter to match the group and channel displayed on the BLX4 receiver. Refer to your transmitter's manual for specific instructions on setting its group and channel.
  4. Verify Connection: The 'Ready' LED on the receiver should illuminate steadily, indicating a successful link with the transmitter. The 'Audio' LED will light up when audio is detected from the transmitter.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Powering On/Off

Press and hold the 'Power' button on the front panel of the BLX4 receiver to turn it on or off.

4.2 Monitoring Status

  • Ready LED: A solid green light indicates the receiver is linked to a transmitter. If it flashes or is off, check the transmitter's power and frequency settings.
  • Audio LED: Illuminates when audio signal is received from the transmitter. A red light may indicate an excessively strong input signal (clipping).

4.3 Adjusting Group and Channel (Manual Selection)

While QuickScan is recommended for ease of use, you can manually select a group and channel if needed:

  1. Press the 'Group' button to cycle through available groups (A-Y).
  2. Press the 'Channel' button to cycle through channels (0-9) within the selected group.
  3. Ensure your transmitter is set to match the manually selected group and channel.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the receiver's exterior. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the receiver in a dry, cool environment away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
