6. Maintenance

Cleaning Your Alarm:

To keep your alarm functioning properly, clean it regularly. Use a soft brush or vacuum cleaner attachment to gently remove dust and debris from the alarm's vents and openings. Do not use water, cleaning solutions, or solvents, as these can damage the unit.

Battery Information:

The Kidde P3010CU features a sealed-in lithium battery designed to power the unit for its entire 10-year lifespan. No battery replacement is required or possible. This ensures continuous protection without the need for annual battery changes.

End of Life Warning:

After approximately 10 years of operation, the alarm will indicate its end of life by chirping periodically. This signifies that the unit needs to be replaced. To deactivate the alarm for disposal, twist the unit off its mounting bracket and use a simple tool, such as a screwdriver, to engage the deactivation switch located on the back of the alarm. This will stop the chirping and render the unit safe for disposal.

If new, ensure proper installation. If chirping persists, the unit may be faulty and require replacement. Deactivate for disposal if at end of life.
Nuisance alarm (e.g., from cooking).Smoke or steam from cooking, high humidity.Press the "PUSH TO HUSH" button to temporarily silence the alarm. Ventilate the area. Relocate the alarm if nuisance alarms are frequent and not caused by actual hazards.
Alarm does not sound during test.Unit not activated, faulty unit.Ensure the alarm is correctly twisted onto its mounting bracket for activation. If it still fails to test, the unit may be faulty and needs replacement.
Alarm sounds "Fire" or "Warning Carbon Monoxide" without apparent hazard.Dust accumulation, high humidity, or actual undetected hazard.Clean the alarm as per maintenance instructions. If the alarm persists, evacuate and contact emergency services, as there might be an invisible hazard.
