4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation and Charging

1. Ensure the battery pack is fully charged using the Metabo AIR-COOLED charger. The 4-LED capacity indicator on the battery shows its charge status.
2. Align the battery pack with the battery port on the grinder handle.
3. Slide the battery pack firmly into place until it clicks, indicating it is securely locked.

4.2 Guard Adjustment

The grinder features a tool-free adjustable guard for safety and convenience.

1. Press the guard release lever or button.
2. Rotate the guard to the desired position to protect against sparks and debris during operation.
3. Release the lever/button to lock the guard in place. Ensure it is securely fastened before use.

4.3 Wheel Installation

The quick wheel change system allows for 100% tool-free accessory changes.

1. Ensure the grinder is switched off and the battery is removed.
2. Press and hold the spindle lock button.
3. Unscrew the quick-release flange nut or standard spanner nut.
4. Place the desired grinding or cutting wheel onto the spindle, ensuring it is centered.
5. Secure the wheel by tightening the quick-release flange nut or standard spanner nut firmly. Release the spindle lock.

5. Operating

5.1 Powering On/Off

The grinder is equipped with an integrated non-locking paddle switch.

• To turn on: Squeeze the paddle switch.
• To turn off: Release the paddle switch. The FAST BRAKE SYSTEM will engage, stopping the accessory quickly.

5.2 Grinding and Cutting Techniques

Always hold the grinder firmly with both hands, using the auxiliary handle. Position yourself to maintain balance and control. Allow the tool to reach full speed before engaging with the workpiece.

• Grinding: Apply light, even pressure. Move the grinder smoothly across the surface.
• Cutting: Use a cutting disc and ensure the guard is correctly positioned. Make straight, controlled cuts. Avoid twisting or binding the disc in the cut.

5.3 Electronic Safety Features

• Overload Protection: Protects the motor from damage due to excessive load. If activated, the tool may temporarily shut down. Reduce pressure and allow the tool to cool.
• Power Interruption Protection: Prevents unintentional starting of the machine after a power interruption (e.g., battery removal and re-insertion). The paddle switch must be released and re-engaged to restart.
• Electronic Safety Clutch: Helps prevent kickback if the wheel jams. The tool will shut down immediately if a jam is detected.
