1. Product Overview
The Fujifilm XC 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS Lens is a versatile standard zoom lens designed for Fujifilm X-series mirrorless digital cameras with an APS-C format sensor. It offers a focal length range equivalent to 24-76mm in 35mm format, making it suitable for a wide variety of photographic situations, from wide-angle landscapes to portrait-length shots. This lens incorporates Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) to reduce camera shake, enhancing sharpness, especially in lower light conditions or at longer focal lengths. Its optical construction includes aspherical and extra-low dispersion elements to minimize aberrations and distortions, while a Super EBC coating helps reduce flare and ghosting for clear, color-accurate images.

3.2 Attaching the Lens Hood
The included lens hood helps to block stray light from entering the lens, reducing flare and ghosting, and provides some physical protection to the front element.
- Align the mark on the lens hood with the mark on the front of the lens barrel.
- Rotate the lens hood clockwise until it locks securely into place.
- To store, the lens hood can be reversed and attached to the lens.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Zooming
To adjust the focal length, rotate the zoom ring on the lens barrel. The lens can be zoomed from 16mm (wide-angle) to 50mm (telephoto). The current focal length is indicated by markings on the lens barrel.

4.2 Focusing
This lens supports autofocus. Ensure your camera's focus mode is set to AF (Autofocus). The camera will automatically focus when the shutter button is half-pressed. For manual focusing, set your camera to MF (Manual Focus) and rotate the focus ring on the lens barrel to achieve sharp focus.
4.3 Optical Image Stabilization (OIS)
The Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) feature helps to reduce blur caused by camera shake, particularly useful when shooting handheld or in low light. The OIS function is typically controlled via your camera's menu settings. Refer to your camera's instruction manual for details on enabling or disabling OIS.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning the Lens
- Lens Elements: Use a lens blower to remove dust and loose particles. For smudges or fingerprints, use a clean, soft microfiber lens cloth and a small amount of lens cleaning solution. Wipe gently in a circular motion from the center outwards.
- Lens Barrel: Wipe the exterior of the lens with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use organic solvents such as paint thinner or benzene.
- Lens Mount: Keep the lens mount clean and free of dust. Avoid touching the electronic contacts.
5.2 Storage
When not in use, store the lens with both front and rear caps attached in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Avoid storing the lens in areas with high humidity to prevent mold growth.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Lens not attaching securely. | Incorrect alignment or obstruction. | Ensure white marks on lens and camera are aligned. Check for any debris on the mount. |
| Autofocus is slow or inaccurate. | Low light conditions, dirty lens contacts, or camera settings. | Ensure sufficient light. Clean lens and camera contacts. Check camera's AF mode and settings. |
| Images appear blurry. | Camera shake, incorrect focus, or dirty lens. | Ensure OIS is enabled (if applicable). Check focus. Clean lens elements. Use a faster shutter speed or tripod. |
| Lens not recognized by camera. | Poor connection or firmware issue. | Re-attach the lens. Clean lens and camera contacts. Ensure camera firmware is up to date. |
